What I'm playing

Here's a list of games that I'm currently playing.

List items

  • After TI8, I started playing this again. I got hooked enough to actually play ranked games, but I'm in the lowest bracket. Despite the toxic online environment, it's still a lot of fun.

During the pandemic, I bought a Battle Pass for the first time. I actually joined a guild with a friend and we ended up playing together. I sort of stopped playing in September.

The Mistwoods patch (7.28) just came out, so I started playing Dota 2 again. I'm still bad.

UPDATE: I'm still bad. It's now over a year later, and I'm still playing from time to time. I changed from playing safe lane core to the mid role, and I seem to understand the game a little better.

Because of time constraints, I didn't buy this year's Battle Pass, but I'm still having fun doing guild quests and maybe getting in one or two games during the day.

I feel like I could make a push to get into a higher rank, but I also think that I'd need to dedicate more time to it than I'm willing to put in right now.

  • This game was sitting on my list of shame, but the bite-sized gaming (and low requirements) made it a good game to "wind down" with at night.

This series still holds a special place in my heart, and after Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, I found out that I care about the characters more than I thought I did.

  • As stupid as it sounds, this is probably the game I'm sinking the most time into right now. Since I've been so busy with caretaking, it feels like it's hard to have time to myself. I'm lucky if I can get a game of Dota in sometimes. But I always need to walk somewhere, and there's always more errands to run, so at least I can get step credit and catch some stuff along the way.

Moving to San Francisco was also a big change - I couldn't believe that there were actually other people actively playing. I guess that's part of the fun of playing in a big city - I actually got to go on raids with strangers - people would just show up randomly to take down the big 5-star raids.

It's a lot more fun right now, and I'm actively looking at what I need to do to make my roster a little better so that I can tackle the bigger challenges.

It's also been nice outside lately, and that's a big plus as well.
