Rand Miller co-founded Cyan (now Cyan Worlds) with his brother Robyn Miller, and the two created the popular Myst series of games together.
Despite the fact that he claims to dislike the role, Rand has played one of the Myst series' main characters, Atrus, since the orignal game was released in 1993. This appearance included live action roles in Myst (and its remake, realMYST), Riven, Myst III: Exile, and Myst IV: Revelation, as well as voice overs for Myst V: End of Ages and Uru. In the original game, he also portrayed the character of Achenar, while Robyn Miller portrayed Sirrus.
Rand has always held to a philosophy of making games that include no violence, sexuality, or other offensive content. This is due in large part to his Christian faith, threads of which can be seen in elements of the Myst franchise.
Together with author David Wingrove, Rand has penned three novels based on the Myst series: The Book of Atrus, The Book of D'ni, and The Book of Ti'ana. A fourth book, The Book of Marrim, has reportedly been planned, but nothing of the project has been heard for some time.
