Just finished the demo. If the whole game is like this it'll be a great rental, but I can't see paying full price for this at all.

I'm not terribly familiar with this game. From the trailer it looks like it's just God of War again, is this true?

Wait, this is out in February?? I feel like they've barely been promoting this at all. But then again, they've still done a better job with this so far than that Dragons Dogma thing CAPCOM got going on, too.

Pre-ordered my copy just this week, soooo excited to play this, looks god damn amazing.

I played the demo of it and I still haven't got a fucking clue what this game is... Dragons lair meets panzer dragoon? I am left completely confused about how I feel about it.

Wow, the demo announcement, let alone the release date, just came out of nowhere. While I haven't tried the demo yet, I have to say they've done a pretty horrible job of marketing this game as the trailers make it seem like 50% "Quick Time Event: The Game" with the other 50% being various extremely short action sequences and cutscenes.

Of course, the flipside to this is the possibility that the marketing is completely accurate and the entire game somehow manages to do too much (way too many different types of gameplay sequences that last at most a handful of minutes each) while simultaneously doing far too little (tons and tons of quick time events everywhere).

I can't help but think that this may turn out to be the action game equivalent of Final Fantasy XIII: very pretty but with minor innovations in elements that don't necessarily need it and deliberate minimalism in elements where it isn't desirable.

Capcom doesn't know how to advertise for their release line up. They pick two games (in this case, SFxT and RE:Socom), give them the entire advertising budget, and force the developer to drum up a fevor about this game through word of mouth or viral practices. Same thing happened last year too. Dead Rising 2 got all the ads, Marvel 3 got 0 and any/all advertising was done through viral methods. Actual television ads for the game didn't start until it had be released for a month.

Just played through both parts of the demo. It consisted of 70% quick time events and 30% poorly designed third person combat. Its a shame because I love over the top action games like Bayonetta, but this is far from an action game.

You can tell they're serious by the use of the "Impact" font

What you see is what you get from the entire game they say. The most raw gameplay in it are the run left-right and jump/shoot parts.

There's footage of regular God of War style fighting.

When I say "its like god of war" I meant it's story is very similar to God of War in that Asura is some general who the almighty "Gods of the World" has punished him and his daughter for some sin he might have or might not have done. Now Asura's ANGRY and is going out and MURDERING those gods.

I really wish this was less quick-time-y and more of a straight-up brawler, because I love crazy/silly shit and ridiculous amounts of punches (see 0:12), which is probably why I still love Fist of the North Star so much.

The demo would certainly have you believe that your summary is fairly accurate. I'd group it as 60-70% cutscenes (interspersed with QTEs), and 30-40% actual gameplay where you briefly move Asura and/or a targeting reticule around (also interspersed with QTEs).

Despite the craziness of this game, I feel like it's still a weekend rental to me.

Just played the demo, i actually really liked it.

Sure its mostly QTE's but i dont mind that, it would be extremely hard to get the same spectacle without them.

played the demo, and it's pretty over the top. I actually was real interested to see what happens next in the story, game play was pretty meh though.

Also kinda gave me a Dragon Ball Z kinda vibe

We should all try helping out an original title for a change, your usual Uncharted/Gears of Wars/Halo/Mario games can wait, they already got enough money out of you, play the previous episodes instead.

Just 'played' it. Its bloody awful. In the few seconds you get to actually control you character its incredibly clunky and boring. And that voice acting... Jesus.

I do like the soundtrack though. Glad they went with the 'Civ' route instead of just crap rock music.

Absolutely awful demo. I don't know what Capcom is thinking releasing a QTE "game" like this. Nothing happens when you even fail a QTE! I mean hell, Heavy Rain has more interactivity than this and Heavy Rain blows.

Well that was ridiculous. I would probably get it but I'm boycotting Capcom for their support of SOPA.

I want a Quick Look just to hear what the guys think of how wacky it is. The demo was pretty fun.

@kishinfoulux: Jeff said something in Jar Time about the demo (at least the press demo he saw) being pretty much QTE's and are all wacky(!) but not particularly interesting. That said, I could call double standard on him due to Saint Row praise, but looking at it, yeah, it does seem a tad QTE heavy with the dressings around it not being enough to sustain a full game.
