Akiko Yoshida (吉田亜紀子), A.K.A. Kokia (こきあ) has been introduced to music early, learnin piano and violin. She joined the Summer Music School in the U. S. A. at 10 years. Thanks to these experiences, she became convinced that it is possible to touch people's heart through music and songs, even across the bareer of language.
She is graduate of the Toho Gakuen, a prestigious music conservatory in Tokyo, in the opera section..
Her first professional experience was conducted while still at university, through a friend who sent a demo tape to several record companies. Toshifumi Hinata, working for Pony Canyon, who detects her potential, and soon decided to make her singt for the label, recording the soundtrack of the videogame Tail Concerto in April 1998. This is the beginning of her career.
Developing her own musical universe Kokia also have her own way to be staged. Often Singing barefoot (even in concert, like during his first trip to Europe in Paris in 2006) and dressed in simple clothes, often loose white robes unadorned, Kokia seems able to maintain her own style without being influenced by the codes of J-Pop. As for her vocal performance, they have often allowed her to obtain favors with advertisers for the promotion of films, anime, or advertising.
