Alex Navarro makes an On the Spot cameo
What the hell, it's like they are told to say everything they're saying!
EDIT- That was funny though.
Agreed." Wow On the Spot is pretty awful these days. Their new editors have no personality and are pretty annoying "
Uhhhhg Lark Anderson, "Hey I'm so scripted it ain't funny, look at me trying to be cool!"
And what happened to the intro?
What happened to the "OOOOOOON THE SPOOOT"
Remember when Greg Mueller was the worst we got? Lark Anderson seems to be about 15 notches below that.
" OMG that Lark dude looks so weird. "He doesn't look that weird, but after his hilariously off-base Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn review, I do not trust his judgment. Reading that review, it's like he only played maybe the first ten chapters, got super-pissed at the difficulty, and then rage-quit to write the review. It just didn't seem like he had played through the entire game at all.
The show isn't quite the worst thing I've ever seen, and the staff is good at doing their jobs(doing what they're asked to do), but the whole show is far too pretentious. Nobody seems genuine, the dialog is stiff, and the whole production itself is trying so hard to be professional that it loses that loose atmosphere, and genuine intimacy of the show during the golden years.
Oh well, good thing there's GiantBomb.com. What's Giant Bomb you ask? It's a video game website... about video games! They even have LIM systems!
Alex is in a lot of the videos harmonix has put up from different stuff over at vimeo.
http://vimeo.com/6108641 <-- that's them on QVC as seen on the giantbomb.com. A website about videogames
Me too. The show is pretty horrible now too. :(" God I hate Lark.. "
Oh, and Alex is awesome!
Who the hell are these people? I know who Jody is, but that's about it.
Ah, Alex doing OTS segments. Those were the days. That being said, I'm pretty into the unpolished and unprofessional GB videos. For some reason they seem less, I don't know, car salesman-ish. (I know, pretty obvious since I'm a GB user.)
Meh, that show was fine, nowhere near as good as the golden days but still fine.
This video also made me want a weekly Giant Bomb studio-style flagship show. Ah well.
I used to watch about 3-4 years ago when Rich was still on it. Dramatic drop in quality after he left. I do like the switch to 20minutes...not that it's going to make me watch it. I'll listen to the hotspot and read the occasional news column/review on gamespot though. I thought Alex's cameo was pretty great. Free shirts? now THAT'S a giveaway.
" tor thorson is sort of odd, but chris watters is pretty bad of coarse none of which are better then the GB crew "Tor's always been weird, never really liked him because he always screamed everything, and not in an awesome Jeff kind of way.
It looks like they sucked the soul out of the show, along with the live streameyness, oh well.
Miss Alex and the rest of the old GS crew. I haven't been to GS site since the incident . Does anyone else know where Alex, Rich, and Carrie are up to these days?
For all the people who are talking shit about On The Spot, I should say that the original On The Spot with our favorite Giant Bomb friendlies wasn't that great either. It got a lot of the same comments that you people are spewing now, actually. Folks have to be given some time to grow into it all. Moreover, most of you people blame the wrong folks for the wrong reasons.
" I still like all the guys over at gamespot. Just not enough to visit the site. EKBERG! "that's "Mechberg" to you.
" @Gunner said:He was the only entertaining part of the show..." alex blew that guy away when it comes to reporting. "Reporting? What "reporting" did Alex do? He was just shouting into the mic for people to check out the set. "
Ya I am going to have to agree with pretty much everyone here and say that the "new OTS" is pretty bad.
I was kinda optimistic about it when they were promoting it but after watching an few episodes that is pretty much it for me.
The host and pretty much everyone else feel like they are out of place and very impersonal. Maybe they will grow into their roles/on the viewers but I am not going to stick around to find anytime soon.
I MISS THE OLD GAMESPOT WITH THE DREAM TEAM! :' (
And i agree with everyone else about the new staff. They are terrible, no personality (which is why everyone loved the dream team), and there just boring and it feels like they want to be as great as the dream tream, but no, no team of editiors will ever be able to replace them.
I think that the moment Alex takes the microphone away, it was like a look back in time. It was so great, at least for a minute until it switched back to that boring dude again. That moment is the perfect metaphor for what Gamespot was in the past and where it's heading.
The worst bit was that on the first of the new On the spot's Ricardo Torres (who took over Jeff's job) called it "TOTS" (Today on the Spot). I miss the crazy ass old OTS.
Though Ryan McDonald and Brian Ekberg are pretty good - Tor Thorsen (news guy) really scares me.
