Call of Duty Classic is where it all started.
So, here we go, Call of Duty Classic for the PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace. It is a game that was originally only released on PC, so, this game here is a first for consoles. The PC version of the game was released way back in 2003, so yeah, its nearly 7 years old now. I was hoping that for consoles, Infinity Ward would make the graphics HD, and include lots of other tweaks and refinements. They did not, and kept it as "Classic" as it is possible to be.
The controls are good, however. I found that firing from the hip and aiming down the sights was easier than the PC version of the game. This game isn't just the single player, though. The game also includes a multiplayer feature, which has a variety of modes, and is generally really fun overall. While it doesn't compare with Modern Warfare 2's offering, this still offers a fun multiplayer experience. The single player campaign takes you around the globe fighting in large scale battles. For example, one Russian misson has you charge across a destroyed square, while German machine guns mow down your squadmates. It is all very engaging and fun, although the graphics aren't no where near as realistic as say the likes of Call of Duty: World at War.
It is good to see this on consoles, and it would be great if they made Call of Duty 2 a downloadable title as well. My only problem with this is the graphics. If they had only made it HD, then this would have been a 5-star. But still, if you are a fan of the Call of Duty franchise, or if you have never played the game that started it all, you would do well to pick this up.
