Background
Isran was a member of the Vigilant of Stendarr years ago. However, he became dissatisfied with the vigil because they claimed that Isran's methods were too extreme. He left the vigil along with fellow vampire hunter Celann to form their own partnership. But this partnership would soon fail because of Celann's disagreement with Isran's methods.
Years later, after a recent rise in vampire attacks, Isran seeks to revive the ancient order of vampire hunters known as the Dawnguard. He goes deep within the Velothi Mountains and finds the ancient fortress known as Fort Dawnguard. He establishes Fort Dawnguard as his base of operations and goes out to find recruits in order to combat the vampire menace.
Personality
Isran has a very headstrong personality and believes that he must protect people from the vampire menace. Even though he is not from Skyrim, he won't hesitate to raise his weapon to defend it. He is no longer a Vigilant of Stendarr, he still believes in Stendarr's teachings. His demeanor can be described as cold and mean. But despite his harshness, he cares about the people of Skyrim and wants to protect them. The best example of his unfriendliness is when he is around the vampire Serana. Isran usually treats Serana with disrespect and constantly refers to her as "it", even to her face.
Isran is also very tense and alert. He is so tense that he berates Dovahkiin for going to sleep. He claims that going to sleep is for the weak because vampires could come and get you while you are sleeping. Isran always expects the worst to happen. A trait that others members of the Dawnguard make fun of him.
