    Pick one character and practice the combo's.

    Work on your timing and then try some friendly local matches. When you can comfortably humilate your friends then go back online.

    Yeah, I used to lose A LOT when I first got online. I think the trick really is to just find a character that suits you and learn how to use them effectively.
