    Brutal Entry... 2

The ice ninja vs. the dark knightAt first glance, the new Mortal Kombat crossover from Midway seemed like a wee bit of an attempt to cash in.  After all, MK's hay-day has since passed, and the fighting franchise all but ended itself with the PS2's massive Kombat mash-up, Mortal Kombat Armageddon.  Adding superheroes seems like a surefire way to get anything relatively noticed by the public at large, but look into fighting games' past, this isn't the first superhero foray into the fighting genre,...

Great addition to the franchise but it lacks content and length. 1

When Midway announced in early 2008 that the new Mortal Kombat game was going to be tied with the DC Universe, most people weren’t very happy. Even though there was Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter II released in the late 90s, this was a bigger surprise. If this wasn’t enough to piss off the fans but Midway also announced the game was striving to be rated T for Teen in . (The equivalent for the would be somewhere around 12+ to 16+) This meant that the game wasn’t going to have the...

Hell spawning ninjas meet with spandex-clad superheroes. FIGHT! 0

Midways’ Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe is the latest installment in the MK fighting series and is the first in the line to break the mold of previous games with it’s inclusion of superhero characters from the DC comic strips. Free-fall Kombat and Klose Kombat add a fresh and engaging dynamic to the MK formulaMK co-creator Ed Boon’s risky idea to combine his supernatural undead ninjas and hell beasts with family friendly superheroes and crime lords has culminated in one of the greatest games in th...

MK vs DC: A great game to introduce people to the fighting genre 0

Numerous times I've tried to get into fighting games.  I've tried Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, and Tekken, yet none of them kept me interested for more than a week.  The problem isn't with the quality of the games, most of them were near AAA productions, but rather, the problem was me.  I couldn't cope with the confusing blocks, parries, combos, etc.  These games were obviously designed for the hardcore fighting fans, and therefore I wasn't part of the target audience.  This said, I still was l...

Worlds collide but ultimately leave you unfullfilled 0

MK vs DCU is an absolute tease. The game proves that Mortal Kombat is back and far from over, yet instead of giving us a true MK game, we are treated to a mash-up.Want to see Liu Kang bite Superman in half? Hah, you wish. While the DC heroic brutalities are entertaining, they aren't as savage as they could be and the game seems held back by it's teen rating.Creator Ed Boon had to dumb the game down to please the DC suits, so gone are the ultra-vicious fatalities. While the dissapointment that th...

A Great Addition to the franchise 0

Not that you would look for a game like this to have a good story, but it kind of did. Well, at least a coherent story that gave a sufficient reason for everyone to be fighting each other. The story was kind of like how in a porno people who meet have sex for the flimsiest of reasons, except of course in this game they chose to beat the crap out of each other instead. It is a strong Mortal Kombat game, and the introduction of DC Universe characters is done very well, with all the characters well...

I have played alot of MK games .Starting with MK1 .And I always respect the team ambitions .In each new game they try their best to change and come up with something new .And this time they change  alot ...When the game was announced in Midway’s gamer day .It was a total letdown .Then months later with the help of vids and pics .I started to love the game ...Before I continue you must know that this game is a spin -off .And the team started working on MK9 even before this game is finished .Many ...

MK vs. DC: Great Rental or Buy 0

I want to start this review out by saying that all I did was rent this game and I would never ever, not in thousand Britney Spears-less years, ever buy a fighting game. I am one of the few people who is both a huge video game addict and a huge comic book addict (My comic book addiction was the deciding factor whether or not to rent this game). Now I want to state this clearly so no one get's confused. If you are looking for a modern comic book story in this game, or a modern, interesting story i...

First Good MK game since the 2d one 0

In my never-ending attempts to get into fighting games, I tried yet another one. Street Fighter IV has the insane level of sheer depth of gameplay, Soul Caliber IV has the visual style and terrific single player gameplay, so what does MK v DCU bring to the table?I will admit that the storyline of the game is about as good as a patently retarded story involving Mortal Kombat characters crossing over to the DC universe. Not going to win any Pulitzer Prizes, to be sure, but it was actually ...

Heroic, but it stumbles a bit 0

Mortal Kombat fighting DC comics characters was an idea that I, as well as possibly many other kiddies, had back when the Marvel vs. games were fresh. However, I never thought we'd actually see the day when such a thing existed. It may have come about almost a decade late, but it's here nevertheless.I've always been a fan of Mortal Kombat, and have always championed the series when the elitist tournament-obsessed have slammed it. However, as of late, especially in the face of more well-built fig...

    Mortal Kombat Vs. DC 0

Ahh there are some things you never expect to see in videogames, and this is one of those rare moments.  These two franchises collide and it ain't pretty.  First things first the fighting is actually pretty solid, and it is pretty rewarding to pull off the harder to do combos.  Every character is unique and there are a couple that just plain suck.  Lex Luther is easily the worst among the roster and The Flash is almost too overpowered.  The graphics are ok, and the tearing in clothes is a nice d...

The Joker Shoots Raiden in the Face 0

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe seems to be a great starting off point for both MK and DC. The Mortal Kombat franchise has fallen onto hard times in recent years, mostly due to gameplay ideas that made a ton sense in theory, but ultimately hurt the overall experience. Whereas DC, and comic book-based games in general, have largely done nothing but flounder. Lets get one thing out of the way, the is the best playing MK game in years. It largely plays just like MK II, which is definitely a good thi...

Mortal Kombat back to form 2

Story The story in MK vs DC is straight from a B-movie. The basic plot is the DC and MK worlds are colliding thanks to a mess up by Superman and Raiden. This ends up with a lot of fighting in an experience that should take between 6-9 hours. The acting is fine and the parallels between the two sides are well thought out e.g. Quan Chi and Lex Luther as the guys who you shouldn’t trust .  What? I can fight? I would like to point out the joker’s brilliant impression of William Shatner in the dc sto...

    Gameplay wise rocks 1

I was not happy when I hear about the idea for this game .Even untill now I hate the DC characters and the versus thing but gameplay wise this game rocks .The team added new ideas to the gameplay and returned to the old formula which is 2D .They have done a great job with the gameplay .Yeah it rocks in the gameplay but sucks in the idea .Head for the gameplay !...

I was never an MK fan .I love Tekken and I think that it is the best in fighting gener .However I find this game very good too .With great graphic and gameplay .It is really great .Graphic /The game graphics are really awesome .The power of the engin can be seen here .The characters designes are beautifull so are the stages .However WonderWoman hair needs improvment .Gameplay /Smoother , better and bigger .Each character has its own moves and special moves .You can link those two together and th...

Review: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe 0

As a hardcore fighting game fan, I've never liked Mortal Kombat. The series was never deep enough for me to sink my fangs into and the dial-a-combo style of fighting turned me away in favor of fighters with cancel systems and custom combos. So, when Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was announced, my first reaction was of bewilderment, then a resounding meh. Yet, I decided to give it a try since I'm a rabid comic book fan, and I can't turn a chance down to fight as Batman.Everything about MK vs ...

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Review 0

Mortal Kombat vs. DC is a cross over fighter brought to you by Midway. You'll be able to take on the cast of Mortal Kombat with several different super heroes and villains from the DC universe, and visa versa. This game feels like a Mortal Kombat Lite game. The problem is that in order to get DC characters into the game the over the top violence had to be toned down a bit.Graphically this game looks good. I have to say that I'm pretty sure that the design team was prodominantly male, as the ladi...

a fun fighter, but not that great 0

Back on the SEGA Dreamcast, Marvel and Capcom teamed up with Marvel vs. Capcom. Thanks to it’s fast passed combat system, great cast of characters, and sharp visuals, It was a huge success. Around 2007, Midway games announced that they would be teaming up with D.C to make Mortal Combat vs. DC universe. It seemed stupid at first, but after looking at what Marvel and Capcom made, it seems like a intresting idea. Is this team up a good idea or a bad idea? Story modes in fighting games mostly suck, ...

Despite some flawed elements; it's a worth while experience. 1

Now I know I'm not the only one that was scared when Midway first announced Mortal Kombat vs DC early this year. I thought the series was going to go downhill with this year, but after spending a few hours playing MK vs DC I can say that I was wrong. First things first even with the T rating MK vs DC feels just like a Mortal Kombat game admitted toned down fatalities and less blood it's still the Mortal Kombat we all love and hate. When I first got the game I though it would suck because of the ...

The true battle for supremacy begins 0

Another year, another Mortal Kombat game. Outside of the large gap between Mortal Kombat 4 and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance’s release dates, we’ve had a steady crop of releases from the series in the last 7 years. While the last three entries focused more on evolving the series, for better or worse, Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe marks a return to its roots in regards to gameplay, despite starring an incredibly random cast of two franchises that couldn’t be more different. So how exactly did Mi...

    Magic pencil trick 0

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe : A fighting game featuring characters from both the Mortal Kombat fighting game and DC comic book franchises, in a combination that could only make sense to fellow gamers who’ve seen Capcom do it before with Street Fighter and Marvel. For all intents and purposes, all of the franchises involved are being riding on the coattails of The Dark Knight, as evident by Batman’s prominent appearance on the box art over actual DC mascot Superman. Story : …will sound very fami...

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe 0

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a game that everyone was surprised to hear about when it was first announced during a special Midway event in in April 08. There was skepticism over how much blood there would be and how gory the fatalities would be when it was announced that the game would be rated T for teen. But, as we started to learn more about MK vs. DCU it sounded better and better. The first characters that were announced were Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Prett...
