First Good MK game since the 2d one

In my never-ending attempts to get into fighting games, I tried yet another one. Street Fighter IV has the insane level of sheer depth of gameplay, Soul Caliber IV has the visual style and terrific single player gameplay, so what does MK v DCU bring to the table?

I will admit that the storyline of the game is about as good as a patently retarded story involving Mortal Kombat characters crossing over to the DC universe. Not going to win any Pulitzer Prizes, to be sure, but it was actually rather good for what it was. You get to be a cross-section of rather good DC characters (no Aquaman? Thank God! And while Deathstroke fights like shit, he is a cool-looking little character).

MK v DCU is an incredibly easy to play game. Hands down the easiest to play this generation. The fighting is not as deep as SF IV, but you can win almost by accident easily. They do a terrific job of making the moves easy to pull off (I usually suck at doing the Fatalities, but if you look at my Gamerscore, you can verify that I managed to pull all of them off). And the characters are given huge advantages if you fight the way that best fits them. Power guys can maul you while speed guys can basically teleport from side to side.

The game doesn't have a wealth of staying power, but it is an enjoyable affair for the time you play it. It's not bad by any rational definition.

Great addition to the franchise but it lacks content and length. 0

When Midway announced in early 2008 that the new Mortal Kombat game was going to be tied with the DC Universe, most people weren’t very happy. Even though there was Marvel vs. Capcom and X-Men vs. Street Fighter II released in the late 90s, this was a bigger surprise. If this wasn’t enough to piss off the fans but Midway also announced the game was striving to be rated T for Teen in . (The equivalent for the would be somewhere around 12+ to 16+) This meant that the game wasn’t going to have the...
