Ogre, stylized as OGRE and not to be confused with the 2017 game of the same name, is a sci-fi military turn-based strategy game developed by Steve Meuse and published by Origin Systems (along with MicroProse in Europe) for the Apple II, Commodore 64, and Atari 8-bit computers in late 1986.

An official adaptation of the Steve Jackson Games board game of the same name, OGRE is set in the futuristic 21st century and tasks one player with defending their headquarters with various tanks, artillery, and infantry against the opposing player's sole heavy tank (the "OGRE").

The game also received conversions by MicroMagic for Amiga, Atari ST, DOS PC and Macintosh computers in 1987, and also received conversions by Systemsoft for the NEC PC-98, NEC PC-88, and MSX computers in Japan in 1987-1988. The original board game later received a second game adaptation, 30 years after this one.

    Gameplay

The game includes two game options, one with the weaker Mk. III OGRE and less defenders and one with the stronger Mk. V OGRE and additional defenders. Each of them can be played in one of two ways: one-player (with the Computer player as the OGRE) or two-player (with the second player as the OGRE).
