2016 Game of the Year Hopefuls

A developer with a huge love for the original Harvest Moon restarted the farming JRPG for so many fans. Stardew Valley is the first Harvest Moon clone that even comes to the SNES game while providing everything old fans wanted from the series. It proves that a GOTY doesn't need to provide cinematic graphics and celebrity voice acting to compete in today's market.

Surprise hit of the year, for sure. It's fast paced, action loaded, and runs amazingly well on consoles as well as PC. Doom is fun all the way through. The MP leaves much to be desired but it's the only real complaint I had about the entire playthrough.

Hitman 2016 is the best Hitman to date. Who would have thought with its episodic story!? But seriously, Hitman 2016 is the most complete and fulfilling Hitman game to date. It rewards you for any play style and each mission is really well though out. It's rare that a game continues to get better with each level. On top of that, the leaderboards and the elusive targets are a blast.

Blizzard jumped in the competitive shooting market and did a heck of a job. Each character stands out with a play style for everyone that likes shooting things or working in a team.

An improvement over the past game, which was in my top 3 games of that year too. There's something about being a corporate/government agency and solving clues in this based RPG/stealth/shooter hybrid.

Drake's adventures come to a conclusion(?) finally and this journey was fantastic. This is my second favorite Uncharted game. I don't think it will be THE GOTY this year, but I have to throw a mention for impressing me. And the multiplayer isn't half bad either!

This literally came out yesterday but has blown me away. I don't think it will be my top pick, but it's a huge jump for the series. We'll see how it ends up in the long run, but its first impression has been outstanding.
