Spectacular first episode. Obviously it is hard to recreate but I loved that while watching I ran the gamut from "Oh, cool. I played that on an emulator for ten minutes twenty years ago" to "Holy crap, that PS1 game my parents bought me because it was a robot game is a sequel to this?" to "Wait.. that PS4 game I played at a friend's place was the same game I played on an emulator?". It is strange how pervasive this series that "nobody has ever heard of" actually ended up being
And Danny is perfect for this. Broad knowledge of gaming as well as a lot of insights into the dev/publisher cycle from noclip coupled with just genuinely loving video games and clearly being amazed that this "jeff game" was so weirdly ahead of its time.
So... WWE might be a godsend to the press conference industry. Because Austin can clearly sell the dumbest most asinine bits imaginable in ways that make me forget just how hokey it is.
The GPD Win 3 and the Aya Neo both "launched" early this year. GPD is a very established brand who makes semi-quality products these days and Aya Neo is new but seems fine according to influencers and folk who actually got theirs. I almost bought a Win 3 (I prefer to not have to rely on custom software by a random company) but ended up passing because even the influencers mentioned how truly horrible the slide out touch keyboard is. Was waiting for the GDP Win 3 Max (the clamshell model with a physical keyboard) but then Steampal might exist so...

Also, the real answer is that, all things being equal, whoever gets the first hit in wins. If we are two untrained people then you aren't going to power through getting smacked with a bat to knife someone and it boils down to whether you stab me before I smack you. Bat probably won't be a one hit kill but it will basically be a real life stunlock. And if you stab me I am going to go into shock while you finish me off.
Similarly, if we are both in the final fight of a Joe Taslim movie, you might be able to power through getting hit by a bat but I am gonna hit you again. Similarly, I might be able to power through a knife wound for a bit but you are gonna stab me like forty times. Same with the idea that we are dodging each other's swings/thrusts.
Hence, it boils down to who gets the first real blow in. Which favors range.
Entertaining and definitely seems like it is something that can appeal to hardcore souls fans and sane people. Looking forward to the next episode

Fun and stupid fact: Biker Zombie game is technically a sequel to Syphon Filter. Apparently Gabe et al are directly referenced in some crashed plane (?) about how they failed to avert the apocalypse
Could always argue it is just a reference (like how Uncharted directly references cordyceps) but... that is the closest anyone will ever get to a new Syphon Filter so?
Tangential but does anyone remember the name of that game about hitchhiking to escape a right wing government? I think it was announced during the summer of e3 last year?

My Understanding of Kingdom Hearts from this feature:
Sora and a few kids live on an island of orphans. They decide to leave for some reason. Sora becomes friends with Cloud and Donald and Goofy. Sora and Donald and Goofy end up doing something until some silver haired dipshit reminds him that his sister exists and then Sora plays cards until he gets frozen in carbonite. Also, he is apparently blonde in cutscenes but not in game.
Then Rikio is created and he is super blonde and a drug dealer going full Memento in the matrix. Eventually he apparently escapes with the help of some blonde girl named Nomura and puts on a black trenchcoat to sit at a table with David Duchovney to steal hearts? Presumably to procure transplants for a House reboot.
Also, all of this cool shit is broken up with constant retellings of a few disney movies and grinding.
And apparently this is NOT a prequel to The Bouncer even though Sora is just Scion but younger and lamer.
The lead actor of Warrior is Andrew Koji who plays someone (Storm Shadow?) in the upcoming GI Joe Snake-Eyes movie. His character is Ah Sahm and he is basically an expy of a bunch of Bruce Lee roles and is a DAMNED good actor with some amazing swagger.
Joe Taslim (The Raid 1 (He was the cop who got a lot of screen time and got murdered by Mad Dog in the apartment fight), also one of the Fast and the Furious movies (he kicks some dude into a glass wall and gets got by Tyrese)) plays Li Yong who is the dragon for the rival gang and is a terrifying mother fucker. He is Sub-Zero in the upcoming Mortal Kombat. You may also remember him as the protagonist of The Night Comes For Us (where he fought Iko Uwais from The Raid 1 and 2 and who is apparently playing Hard Master in that GI Joe movie).
And for bonus fun: Jason Tobin plays Young Jun. He also was the goofy japanese friend in Tokyo Drift (not to be confused with Little Bow Wow or the sister-girlfriend) and is in Fast 9 for probably all of 2 minutes. He is a VERY different character in Warrior but is still a loveable goober.
And once things stop being quite so porny the women and supporting cast (woo, Chao!!!) are also spectacular. Olivia Cheng and Dianne Doan pretty much take over any scene they are in and are probably the most fascinating characters on the show.
Warrior is a depressingly timely (and even more depressingly always timely...) show about basically being Asian (specifically Chinese but it is kind of universal) in San Francisco near the end of the gold rush/turn of the century (?) and does a great job of escalating from casual racism and apathy to full on violence and attacks in the street as the local government blames them for just about everything as a way to garner political favor and The Irish use that as an excuse to take out a lot of aggression over lost wages and similar firebrands.
Season 2 is a lot weaker than 1 but there is one episode that manages to swing from horrifying a literal lynching of one of the only good men... to terrifying The Irish attack chinatown and start brutalizing people and destroying property to just fucking GOOD the tongs put aside their differences for the day with a nod and kick insane amounts of ass to defend chinatown in a way that I personally felt was probably too much mood whiplash but also will almost definitely rewatch sooner than later.
