@strijd: The variables that dictate decent internet here are ridiculous. I'm lucky enough to be able to essentially get gigabit where I live, but I built a house in a new estate that got FTTP and I also pay $150 a month for it. The extent to which the NBN construction/rollout was fucked is something of a tragedy, relatively speaking...
Starting the show with the show-stopper in Welcome Home! Probably still the perfect 'Coheed' song, saying everything that that band is about in one song.
I will say as well, I legit like Crawling in the Dark, unironically...
I'm gonna disagree on the 'Killswitch sucks' viewpoint - End of Heartache is a pretty good album (and really important, historically, for 'metalcore'). and there are some great songs on other albums as well. I wouldn't come close to calling them a favourite band, but they're alright...
Fuckin' A. You've made a thoughtfully expressed statement that hits about every point/'tangent' I could think of - some people will, sadly, just never be satisfied by attempts to apologise or mistakes even occurring in the first place. The amount of behind-the-scenes stuff for this, or any, publication/site means that users will either have faith (and not blind faith, but faith based on evidentiary history) that the organisation and the people that work for it make the best decisions with whatever information they have/can find/is available at the time of making decisions and in the aftermath, including any editorial, managerial, and business follow-up that will have already have happened, or they don't - and if they don't, I would somewhat question why they're here to comment etc., unless it's to shit down the necks of anyone involved and to just be generally unpleasant.
To anyone who goes down the 'well, I was able to find the information, why didn't Abby look harder/do better/etc', there isn't much that can be said that will satisfy you, other than to say that I'm sure Abby did as much due diligence vetting as she could in whatever time she had to put this whole thing together - again, we don't know the process leading up to how it all came together, and speculating/randomly guessing doesn't help anything.
I feel like Abby is likely kicking herself for this and feels awful for this happening, particularly in the shadows of the conversations had a couple of weeks ago - I know I absolutely would be more brutal on myself than any one user would or could be. But what does kicking her while she's (possibly - I don't want to suggest she is 'down') down achieve? Fuck all, other than for those that are commenting in such a negative way to feel superior or justified in their dislike of her and her hiring. She did, and still is doing, the best she can and brings a different perspective to proceedings - people can not like that, but to be disrespectful towards her achieves nothing from where I sit...
I guess I did have more to say than I thought I would when I first started in on this reply...
This video seems to be broken and doesn't play any more... When you hit the big play button, it acts as if it's been played, and just gives you a replay button :(
