@2headedninja: the humour isn't great but I'd say it lands more for me in this then BL2. I personally hated Handsome Jack and prefer the twins by a large mile. The humour is safe it's juvenile but it's not offensive and actually pretty inclusive which is probably a hard line to walk considering how childish it can be at times.
I agree that it feels like a lot of reviewers are saying they are having fun and enjoying their time with the game, then caveating that with things. It's a bit odd. All that said the game does need an optimization patch pretty bad.
Was pretty excited to hear what they all thought of BL3 especially since it feels like it's aping Destiny a bit more. Disappointing to hear it didn't seem to work for most of the staff. Besides the writing not be great (which it's never been) I feel like the game is a huge improvement. Guns are actually unique from one another, exploration is actually rewarded, and the 4 classes are all alot of fun.
Jeff not thinking Moze has good skills may be in for a treat with since she has basically an infinite ammo build and seems to get really good later in the game.
The complaints about diversity in planets was a bit strange considering this handled exactly like Destiny's planets. Different strokes I guess.
I love destiny but it being the bar that all looter games are supposed to clear is strange. I much prefer the way Borderlands handles things but different strokes I guess.
Sorry maybe I'm completely wrong but doesn't Spiderman have cube mapping on buildings on OG PS4? I swear I played it that way and noticed buildings that had it.
Also they keep mention cross platform play when talking about Destiny 2 DQB2 but everything I've seen this isn't the case at all. Destiny supports cross platform saves but you won't be able to play with people cross platform yet atleast... Bungie would like it though. And DQB2 allows you to share photos and visit people's towns but you can't actually interact or play with anyone it's just like this stuff is hosted on a server and you can look at it in real time you don't actually play with anyone. I don't know about Call of Duty. Am I mistaken? There is a huge difference between cross platform play and saves.
I hope these guys continue to stick with Monster Hunter. Brad thinking high rank is more of the same couldn't be further off. By the end of low rank you've one seen just a bit over half of the 30+ monsters in game.
Also investigations will mix up the conditions and monsters enough to keep the game interesting. Expeditions are for gathering mats only.
Also the amount of frustration around the online system isn't as bad or confusing as everyone keeps saying. You do not need to use SOS to invite people to your game they can wait in town at the message board until you see the cutscene and join from there. Only twice is the cutscene more then 5min into a quest so unless people are very impatient it's pretty easy to work around.
Really hope this does well for Tom Francis it looks great. Anyone not familiar with his other work should check out Crate and Crowbar (his podcast), his blog and his Gal Civ 2 diaries. He's a really terrific games writer and has some pretty interesting perspectives into games.
@alex: just wanted to say you have been killing it on the podcasts lately. Keeping things moving and you are hilarious. You seem way more comfortable for some reason. Just wanted to say keep up the great work!
