Just starting up a thread to acknowledge how wild it is that the Prehistory chapter in Live A Live ends with the caveman going into a bedroom with his new girlfriend, kicking his monkey friend out of the room, and then we hear distinctive o-sounds coming from the room while the monkey stands outside giggling at the camera. Was this in the original game? Is that why it never came out west? Just so amazed by it that I had to record here for posterity.

Bonus points for insinuating that the monkey also gets to have an orgy with like five monkey ladies. Pretty out there stuff for Square Enix and Nintendo. Have a nice weekend everyone.

I didn’t even make it far enough to see any bugs. I got turned off immediately by the camera cutting and recentering on the speaker for each line of dialogue. I found that so disorienting and unnecessary that I put the game down after like 5 mins, then read about all these other problems and just hoping they issue some good patch work early next year. Such a shame, was really looking forward to this, but hopefully they turn it around.

Metroid Dread

Yep considering I a) rarely play Switch undocked, b) rarely play Switch online, and c) already have a hefty MicroSD card in my Switch, this seems like a hard pass for me. I guess good for those who don’t fall into that camp. But looks like for any actual performance improvements (like, oh, I don’t know, their flagship game BotW running at a decent / consistent frame rate) we’ll have to wait for the official Switch successor.

One less purchase to budget for :)

Dark Souls Remastered on Switch. Really dug the pitch-black atmosphere and emergent storytelling, but damn that movement and combat was just infuriating to me. I gave it a decent go, at least 10 hours, but never got past Blighttown and may never go back (though I keep it installed just in case).

I got it! Got the soundtrack too, even though I have not heard any of it. Just wanted to throw these poor devs some extra $ after what they've been through trying to release what by all accounts is a really good game.

Only question is whether I play it now or try to hold out for Halloween

I've been playing The Touryst on Switch and it is so much fun! It's got a little bit of everything... exploration, humor, puzzles, fetch quests, minigames, boss fights, platforming, all wrapped up in an utterly charming voxel island presentation.

I feel like this somehow flew under the radar for most folks as I haven't heard discussion about it on GB or elsewhere but ppl should really give it a shot for a modest, utterly joyful experience that we could all use right now.
