I've only played two 2017 games in 2017: NieR: Automata and Alwa's Awakening and I loved them both for different reasons.
No, wait. One more. My biggest disappointment this year was Cosmic Star Heroine, and it wasn't bad. It just wasn't quite as in-depth as I'd hoped. The story was shallow and dull with little character development. The difficulty wasn't very well balanced either with easier difficulties being a cakewalk and harder difficulties being trial-and-error, mix-and-match-your-party until you have the right abilities puzzles. It's pretty glaringly obvious that development was rushed. Still, it oozes retro-jrpg charm and I'm very thankful someone is maintaining the genre's glory days.
Nah. I kind of like it when I get all the achievements in a game, but I've actually done that maybe the half-dozen times I've played games that just give you them all in the course of the single player campaign. Sometimes, if I see I'm really close to getting one that doesn't take much, I'll go for it, but those that require tens of hours of grinding or beating a game on exxxtreemmmee difficulty don't interest me in the least.
Minimum $100 to back the fig campaign? That's a bit much. Hopefully he tempers his expectations with the Kickstarter. The world would be a sadder place without Swery making video games in it. Even if I have no interest in playing them.
@dave_tacitus: Does it automatically emulate xinput if the game doesn't directly support the DS4? I can't find any options that let me turn on xinput emulation a la InputMapper or DS4Windows.
It depends on the game. Sometimes I just want the next part of the story and if I'm lost, I'll use a guide. Sometimes, if a world is interesting enough I'll just wander until I find my way. I prefer games that encourage and reward the wandering approach.
What they really ought to do is stop releasing these mini/classic consoles and get to work on the eshop on Switch already. I guess that's not likely to happen as long as people keep showing their willingness to pay for the same old games over and over and over.
