Do you remember the teaser site featuring only a pixel blue mushroom? Well the timer has reached zero and the game has been revealed. But I don't know what the fuck I'm looking at! The Japanese site can be found here. At first the rifle-wielding cowboy doesn't seem like a Mario game at first, clicking around the site makes me wonder. Click on the blue mushroom, and you will hear the Super Mario 1-up noise, but in a different key. Also, clicking on some of the characters will show very Super Mario Bros. 1 looking castles and flags... Can someone who understands Japanese make this clear to me please?  Because I'm so lost here.

It's not just a Mario spoof, it's supposed to be a send-up of the entire 8-bit era of video games.  Of course it looks an awful lot like Super Mario Bros., since it defined the 8-bit era.
