Apart from things like the state not wanting them out during covid, one reason Jeff might not have grill items in his nearby gas stations is Tyson supplies a lot of the hot dogs and sausages to convenience stores and due to *issues* are having supply issues with their grill items. So a lot of places are out and have been out for weeks.

I contemplated a gas station shower once. Was driving from NC to CA for ComicCon with stops in MI and IO. 2 day drive. Halfway through I was feeling gross. Showered after checking into the hotel.

Fuck IPAs!

I get that they're the best-selling style, but what do you do if you don't want an IPA? I'm about to head to a local brewpub that has 10 taps, five of which are IPAs. It's a good style, but it's kind of like thinking that gaming is only first person shooters.

That's only 50% of the options of the place you are going to. And not all IPAs taste the same. Besides I can't think of ANY bar that would stock 5 IPAs and not have things like Bud, Coors, Michelob, Corona, or Stella via bottle.

@f1rev2: Yes, I know not all IPAs taste the same, but they have a similar enough profile to know what you're getting going in. A bar , yes, I can see the situation you describe but I can think of two local brewpubs that half or more of their taps devoted to IPAs and a few scattered other styles.

The bombcast could use a new Brad, someone who can gently bring the conversation back from Jeff's tangents. The Jeff/Brad balance was truly a thing of beauty.

Yeah i think Jeff's mostly right on that auction stuff. What's more likely, suddenly all these rare games get sold for millions in a few weeks time or these auctionhouses are pandering towards a new generation that cares about gaming by grabbing every headline that it can? The only moments i realize that this line of business exist is when these huge prices get reported on.

The more i hear about people getting really into beer or wine, it wonder what it's really about. I get that people can get really interested in their drink of choice and want to find their ultimate drink. But then i hear about groups pushing back against a certain type of beer because it gets too popular and it start to sounds like it's more about the social tribal aspect. People getting into it because they needed an adult hobby to bond with a certain group over without it requiring too much talent or effort to still belong. Folk are allowed to like something that's popular even if you're convinced that there's some obscure drink out there that will blow it out of the water!

Wawa is good for daytime, but Sheetz is the best Pennsylvania gas station food. I know it's a hot-button issue that's basically inseparable from Philly vs. Pittsburgh arguments, but I grew up with Wawas and went to college around Sheetz, so I feel a little less biased.

I caught the swine flu. It was like the second week of my freshman year of college. It fucking sucked, I was bedridden for half a week. Which in retrospect is not that big of a deal, especially compared to COVID, but it was bad timing.

Although Jeff mentions the "swine flu year," which I assume would be the 2009 H1N1 pandemic (when I got it). Halo 4 came out in 2012, so I don't know what he's talking about.

@jasperkazai: It's possible that the Halo event he was thinking of was actually Halo 3: ODST, which did come out in 2009 and lines up a little better with H1N1. Or he did go to some Halo 4 event, in which case the timing is much closer to one of the bird flu epidemics or something? It's probably ODST and Jeff is just mixing it up.

I don't get the trepidation on saying Splitgate is a nice/good game. Scratch that, I get the resistance, it looks like a free-to-play the game, but the team knows info on the game development. It's made by a small team. Of course, their sample how-to-do would include a generic free-to-play mobile app interface, they have all new employees that can't speak up, etc. I think GB and Fans think game development is some wonderland of creativity only stopped by execs with yachts. The truth is gauge games are the new 30 person team. They weren't ready for big servers overloading, yes they should have but ehh. The truth is they didn't have the oversight even big companies don't.

Anyway, the game is fine. I know I'm contradicting myself. It feels like halo 2 while we have halo 5 and titan fall etc. They need more weapons, but balance takes time, etc.

I assume the crew would like this game more but from them saying the portals are a kinda afterthought etc, it will be a Fortnite vs PUBG situation. Thell jump on the less popular interaction think it's good, and then notice the other thing is popular, say it's not worth jumping into then so on so on. Fans jump on to say the game is BAD. so on.

I hope they enjoy it eventually, it's not perfect, but for a small team, it is utilizing the ideas of others in a fairway.

My friend and I would get a bottle of Pepsi (Coke wasn't an option) from our high school's vending machine in the morning and then after first period go to his dad's apartment between classes and add some good ole Jack Daniels.

This made my week hearing my stupid story on the Bombcast about my weird giant Jager bottle. @jeff You are correct it was a lot of fun having a car sized bottle of Jager around. You are also correct in saying that it caused me to go into cold sweats.
