This was educational. I try and stay away from these things so having them presented in this format helped a lot. I felt sick several times during this video.

my question is, who cares? not about the food crime but the algorithm manipulation. are they stealing ad money or something? its facebook, and if you take anything seriously on facebook then... well you shouldnt.

I love the show, but this topic and that thumbnail...I just don't think I can watch this week.

It thrives on Facebook because there are a lot of less internet savvy people on that platform that falls for these obvious engagement tricks.

That being said the first video with the spaghettios pie with mozzarella... didn't look THAT extreme. Using her arms to mush the butter was the only thing that was obvious as something nobody would "invent" in their own kitchen. Also the nacho hack is only weird because it's straight on the table. I'ts pretty much what I do on my plate when I eat nachos. The icecream scoop and the tortilla cone is something I could definitely try.

Nooooope. Could not finish this episode. I have never had this kind of reaction to a video in my life!

Oh god I just looked up this Rick Lax, and saw that he was born and raised in Michigan. I must say, I'm very sorry to all of you, for allowing this to happen.

Really interesting episode. I would also be interested in exploring Mr Beast and those YouTube videos with millions of views that seem very manipulative. I always look forward to a new episode in this series.

I've seen some of those "dangerous" food hacks. I thought it was obviously supposed to be a magic trick. Similarly with the gross food hacks. I thought it was obviously a joke.

There's certainly some dark magic going on here because I'm getting nauseous just listening to the audio version of this. That said, Tam may be onto something when he mentions that the popularity of these videos exposes the stupid designs of our brains.

Supposedly, arousal turns off or minimizes whatever it is that causes us to react with disgust to dirty, smelly, or messy things. These reactions normally exist to protect us from unsanitary or hazardous environments, but they could also impede the sexy times that lead to procreation. If this is true, then it would make sense that system could go haywire somehow and cause a different kind of reaction to grossness.
