Flawed but fun, until the end

There is a big qualification on this mildly positive. The Sinking City is a flawed game. It has a lot of tedious running around town. The action is terrible. Some of the side quests are good, and some are just really boring item hunts. A lot of the building interiors are copy/paste jobs, especially on those tedious item find quests. And the ending is absolutely awful.

What I had fun doing was solving cases, which is what the game is about. Talk to people, look for clues, do some research, put it all together. I even appreciated the part of the tedious running around town that involved putting marks on a map, because this game doesn't give you quest markers.

But I cannot stress how terrible the ending is. Throughout the game, you make some choices. None of those factor into the end. The last minutes of the game make me wish I didn't spend 20 hours enjoying what I did like about the game.
