Activision apparently not dropping details on rumored Modern Warfare prequel yet.
UPDATED: Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg has dropped a few more hints about the next Call of Duty, too, during the same call.
"[We're excited by] the creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making," said Hirshberg, "and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will reset the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of immersion, connectivity, community and, of course, epic action. The game has exceeded every internal milestone and we look forward to sharing it with you soon."

There have been rumors flying this morning that Activision would reveal the first details on the next Call of Duty today, reportedly a prequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. On Activision's quarterly financial call this afternoon, however, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said anything concrete is a few weeks off.
"This year's Call of Duty has a very high bar to exceed," said Kotick. "We believe this year's Call of Duty initiatives will result in the best Call of Duty experiences we have created to date."
In addition to the expected sequel, Activision will be launching a microtransaction-based Call of Duty for the Asian market and a digital service called Beachhead. It's not clear what Beachhead is just yet.
Kotick said more details on all three initiatives will arrive "in the coming weeks" and the launch of the next major Call of Duty will represent Activision's "largest integrated marketing and retail campaign." E3 just so happens to be in a couple of weeks, by the way.
Prequel huh? I guess they are chickening out on creating the Soap and Price on the run game. I am interested in seeing what this actually is once the dust clears from all the grandstanding.
I rarely buy games as much any more, so as a consequence they have to review really good by GB for me to want to make a purchase.
And if any of the GB team make comments that if you didn't like the previous game or are tired of the series then this won't change your mind, I'm out, flat out.

When I read a sentence like "The game has exceeded every internal milestone" in an Activision press release all I can see is "The developers have been working 80 hour weeks for 6 months, no reason to stop now."
Please, please be better than Black Ops! It's not hard to bet better than Black Ops, flash games are better! This series may be dead already, but hopefully this will bring a little life to the franchise.

they're spouting out meaningless bullshit about milestones and high bars to exceed, something their annual rehash CoD has nothing to do with, and we're here either mocking Activision or debating whether MW3 will actually be a milestone, and there are tens of millions around the world who believe PR statements like this and buy COD every year
yep. I was a CoD player for a while, but it just gets repative and booooooring. Looking forward to putting in some BC2 time, as I just got it for $7 on steam. i love sales :)
Every single statement from Activision about Call of Duty is just a buzzword list with no substance whatsoever. Which is appropriate, given the subject matter.

Every CoD game has been enjoyable and I've yet to find another franchise that consistently keeps me entertained for as long as CoD has. Haters will always be around, but the sales show that the VAST MAJORITY of gamers enjoy this franchise more and more every year.

OK let me get this straight, you want me to spend $60 for the game, $15 a piece for 2 -3 map packs with 3-4 new maps, $50-60 a year for Xbox live and now you want me to spend even more in some way to play the game. If they do implement this plan and you buy the game then pretty soon everybody will be doing it. I think boycotts are stupid but at the same time the only way to stop them is to vote with your wallet so make your choice if they have found a way to squeze more money out of this franchise.
As much as there is to hate on with Call of Duty, like the broken spawning system, countless bugs and glitches, unbalanced weapons, no dedicated servers on console, etc, it's still decent.
I mean, I buy it every single year for the full 60 bucks and i don't regret it. They come chock full of content, lots of gameplay in there. Full SP campaign, full MP experience, something like Spec Ops or Zombies as well. It's a good value.
So i'll buy this game, and then complain about how broken it is within two months of it being out.
