When Just Add Water announced its first Oddworld project, a PSN rerelease of Xbox shooter Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, it chose not to delve into the specifics of the work being done to the original content in the shooter. Now the studio has revisited the topic in a fairly recent developer blog post, which said that we'll see higher in-game poly counts on all the characters in the rerelease, as well as better maps and self-shadowing, higher-resolution cut-scenes, updated audio and dialogue quality, trophies and achievements support, and a somehow sexier UI.
A newer blog post has revealed a decidedly higher resolution Stranger, which you can look at just below (or here for a super big version). You'll notice that JAW didn't merely triple or double the poly count on game's protagonist--according to the image, we'll be seeing nearly seven times the count from the original Xbox version. That strikes me as a lot, and it does look like quite the improvement.
Other characters in the game will be receiving similar boosts to up to 18,000 polygons. And while that's a couple thousand less than Stranger, it's hard to believe our eyes will be bothered all that much by the lack of HD-age-ness quality. I should note that it's unclear if these audio and visual improvements comprise the whole extent of the game's "bonus" content. I've sent an email to JAW just in case.
