LEGO Jurassic Park's Probably Coming Next Year

Perhaps they'll find a way to conveniently ignore Jurassic Park III.

No Caption Provided

I haven't touched a LEGO game in years, but LEGO Jurassic Park would probably get me on board, and it appears TT Games has teased exactly that in the credits for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

(Random aside, are there really three Batman-specific LEGO games already?!)

Brick Fan discovered the reference in Beyond Gotham. As Batman and Robin scale a building, a friendly T-Rex shows up and the iconic score from Steven Spielberg's film plays.

The idea of LEGO Jurassic Park isn't new, either, as the fan site Jurassic World reported on the game's existence in September. The news was ultimately pulled down at the request of NBC/Universal, giving the rumor some real weight.

If you want to see the cameo in video form, fast forward to 25 minutes:

"Huh."

Even in my imagination of what the next Lego game would be, I wouldn't guess Jurassic Park. But it's easy to see why this might work really well... cool!

This seems like an obvious pre-LEGO-can-talk LEGO game. Regardless, I'm sure it'll be better than that adventure game!

I don't know why they're bothering with properties like Jurassic Park when things like Doctor Who suit the LEGO format a lot more. No one currently has the construction set license for Doctor Who. As much as I love Jurassic Park I really can't see how the property would translate into a LEGO video game and why LEGO and Travelers Tales would seemingly pass up other properties. Since they work on two games at once, I'm assuming the other is a LEGO Star Wars game.

Because outside of the UK Lego age kids don't care about Doctor Who.

No, it's a huge show these days. The show is very successful internationally (and is growing quickly).

Yes it is, but not with kids. It's successful because of teenagers and adults.

BBC doesn't understand licensing.

Jurassic Park 3 was fine. It didn't have a third act, but what we got was inoffensive enough.

Also, these Lego game adaptations began all the way back in 2005, so that there are three Batman-specific Lego games shouldn't really be that surprising.

I thought the next Lego game would be TMNT, since Lego Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a thing now.

The Lost World is no Jurassic Park, but it holds up pretty well upon a recent rewatch.

That game would flop harder than a Premier League player world wide, outside of possibly England. Might as well make a Lego Black Adder game.

Perhaps they'll find a way to conveniently ignore Jurassic Park III.

And The Lost World now that you mention it. TLW is not a good movie and rewatching it certainly doesn't help.

I watched it recently. The film is fine, it's got some great one liners like "How many Sarahs do you think are on this island?" and the stuff with the cheeseburgers (no onions on mine!) Sure it feels silly with moments like the TRex smashing through the immigration sign and the parents complaining about the fish tank, but it's still cool to watch those dinos, which still look really good, living and breathing in the world. Even at 22, I got a little lost in the wonder of the world Spielberg created and forgot that Dinosaurs are actually extinct.

However, feel free to discredit my opinion entirely, because I also really like Jurassic Park 3 and I am looking forward to the next one.

Maybe in Europe? No on talks about Dr. Who here.

Lots of people poo-pooing the second film as well. I'm with Patty here. It's no original film, but it's not that bad, has some funny moments, two t-rexs, and holds up. The third is beyond saving, and to me, (I hope I'm not crazy, and it has something to do with the budget being less, or animatronics not being used) the dinosaurs look less real in the third movie than the first.

Having said all this, I wish we could get a real Jurassic Park game and not some family friendly Lego version of it. There's yet to be a good modern game with dinosaurs in it at all (one of the twenty players of one of those online only Steam shooters may disagree).

That is interesting because this amazing Jurassic Park set was submitted to LEGO a while back but was rejected because a competitor had the license.

A quick Google search informs me that LEGO is launching official sets next year to line up with Jurassic World. That set wasn't rejected that long ago so either they didn't want to give away that they actually had the license or things have been moving quickly.

@crimsonavenger:

Actually I think Character Blocks currently has the licence for Doctor Who.

As an aside, I believe its the case that Travellers Tales dont ever get the licence for the character itself, but only for the lego set range. This is why with Travellers Tales being owned by Warners wasnt a barrier to them making a Marvel game, because they only ever licence from Lego. The take away from that is that it has to be a real toy first for them to make a game of it, and they announced Lego Jurassic playsets a couple of months ago.

well to be honest, I skipped the Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter games. The movie games hold little interest for me, but Jurassic World, sure why not I'd love to try that.... Although I love the more sly winks to the adults in the room like when Beast in Lego Marvel goes "Oh my stars and garters."
