Microsoft Streaming E3 Press Conference Via XBL

At least you don't have to log into Home?

No Caption Provided

The best way to experience Los Angeles is to never, ever go to Los Angeles, which is why it’s nice that Microsoft will be giving you a convenient way to avoid that by streaming its E3 press conference through Xbox Live this year.

Microsoft’s press conference takes place on Monday, June 4, and should kick off around 10:00 a.m. PST.

We’ll be there. Probably. I guess.

Microsoft isn’t the first company to offer alternate ways to watch its E3 press conference. Last year, Sony held a live stream of its press conference through Home. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than Los Angeles.

@laserbolts: Zero campaign footage, zero Spartan Ops footage, New enemies not yet introduced. Cynic or not, the press conference will be the first time that stuff will be shown and it could very well be awesome.

Plus, there'll be some third party games even if you're cynical about MS having their own stuff. They pace the conferences well and if I remember correctly, the Kinect stuff is always together at the end so you can stop watching when that stuff shows up.

Indeed it very well could be awesome but the cynic in me says it's going to be the same ol same ol. That's the thing about a cynic it doesn't matter if anything has been shown I already think it will be more of the same. I'm really looking forward to some more xbla stuff because that seems to be the 360's strong point. Shadow Complex 2 would be a nice thing to see and I wouldn't be surprised if they announce that.

@laserbolts: I expect balancing issues galore.

However, I've practically given up on xbox live, and since I can't get my Halo fix anywhere else, Halo 4 isn't really on my radar. (after 6 console failures in ~4 years*, I'm so god damn jaded and sick of xbox live fees and the like...)

*I've owned a 360 since 2006, but my last failure was actually in 2010, I stopped playing xbox for the most part in 2011. Not that anyone cares, but I figure I should clarify.

After 6 console failures I would have given up on xbox myself. That seems like plenty of reason to not bother with xbox live anymore. I have gone through 4 now and the only reason I still primarily use xbox is because my real life friends use it. Just making sure that people understand that my comment wasn't against microsoft. Although I will say that they better get their shit together for the next generation because it is pretty ridiculous the amount of hardware issues people have had. Maybe it is time to invest in a good pc.

Yeah, and for me every dashboard update has been 1 step forward, 2 steps back. The reason I stayed so long was like you, friends. Thankfully, 80% of my friends switched to pc with me (though not all did entirely, but that's cool you know).

Why is it that all journalists are cynical towards going to a press show? I have been to a couple myself, and had a blast doing so. Is it just the normal, "I don't do this for fun anymore," kind of mentality you see after someone being at their job for a year plus?

They don't like actual work.

@laserbolts: XBLA stuff hasn't shown up to the conferences recently but I'd be incredibly happy to see Shadow Complex 2. I'll watch the conference (up until the Kinect section) just for the chance of that game being announced.

People still hate on Home? It's such a niche thing that it's kinda pointless to insult it, I thought. It's like constantly talking about a band you hate when no one was talking about that genre of music at the moment.

"Yeah, the Country Music Awards were pretty bland this year."

"FUCK SKRILLEX!"

"Dude, what?"

SpikeTV is broadcasting it, too so I'm not sure what the point is. I guess if you don't have cable/satellite but do have an internet connection, but don't want to watch it on your PC/Mac. Well, I guess there is the international audience, too. I should stop thinking so Americentric. Does anyone know if you need a Gold subscription to watch the conference over your Xbox? I can't find anything that says either way.

Bout time they started doing this. It'd be even nicer if you could have party chat going while this is happening.

I recall watching Sony's conference on a PS Blog live stream and it worked out pretty good.

I can't wait for more cute kids and awkward adults pretending to play Kinect games. Lightsaber on.

What is there to watch? Halo 4, and Kinect crap. We already know the deal. People keep watching and Microsoft pulls the same crap each year. There will be no games!

Why would you need to log into Home for a Microsoft press conference.

Also, do you have to pay for XBox Live GOLD for Microsoft to tell you how awesome XBox is for an hour?
