More Tower Defense Hitting PSN On The Morrow

FluffyLogic's Savage Moon will join Pixeljunk Monsters on the PS3 download service in the next 24 hours or so.

Sony's got some neat stuff going up on the PlayStation Network these days, but I can't say as I'm always acutely aware of it all before the fact. Magic Ball is a good example; it appears to be a fairly inspired 3D Arkanoid-style action game, and Jeff seems pretty jazzed about it so far, but I had no idea what the game actually was until the day it came out. (For what it's worth, Jeff says a review is forthcoming.)

Ditto Savage Moon. Never heard the name before sifting through Sony's press site last week. As it turns out, the game is of the tower defense ilk, and if you remember, PSN already has one pretty well-regarded tower defense game in Pixeljunk Monsters. But then, that one came from Japan-based Q Games, and Moon is straight out of Bristol, the United Kingdom, courtesy of FluffyLogic.

Come to think of it, between Pixeljunk, my daily bus companion Ninjatown, and scads of web-based clones, it seems like in terms of visual design, most tower defense games are all some brand of cartoony or other. Why is that? There's nothing cute about war, friends.

Savage Moon looks pretty damn serious by contrast. The Blog de PlayStation has a video up to commemorate the launch, wherein you can see exactly how savage this particular moon is going to get.

Head on over to the PS.Blog post to see some unit artwork and get a bunch of info from the game's designers. Or you could just wait until tomorrow and buy it at the $9.99 asking price. What you do with your money is certainly none of my business.
