New Cars, New Events Coming To NFS: Hot Pursuit Via DLC

EA announces a bunch of new stuff you can download!

A total of three Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit downloadable content packs are slated to hit within the next three successive weeks starting this Feb. 22, EA has announced. The content, all slated to hit at seven bucks for the two console versions of the racer, will add new cars, modes, events, and achievements to the core game.

The first pack, “Armed and Dangerous,” is an online-focused thing that’ll add an open-world “battle” mode called “Most Wanted,” which’ll have the cops attempting to bust up one designated racer while other racers are tasked with protecting him. The other mode, “Arms Race,” appears to be a more cut and dried racing affair that’ll feature weapons and a straight-up race to the finish line.

== TEASER ==The second pack, “Lamborghini Untamed,” adds the following cars that can be used for both the police and the racers, on top of 10 new unspecified events:

  • Lamborghini Diablo SV
  • Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV
  • Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

The third pack, “Posche Unleashed," adds three new cars: the Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche 959, and the 911 Speedster. The boilerplate in today’s press release focuses on the former car, as it's “designated to enable players to go back and reignite their earliest rivalries and beat their friends' times.” Ten more events will be added in this one, too.

The price seems about right for the first pack, and while I’d imagine NFS owners are pumped for all of the new content, that 911 Turbo has me worried. Is it going to be the super car that can shatter every record with no problems?

HUZZAH! I was hoping there would be a bit more stuff for me to do in NFS:HP, those new modes actually sound like they will be pretty interesting, and its nice to have a bit more of the old racing style stuff in multiplayer

I do not understand the point of posting the video by itself and then posting an article, including said video, with write up about the video and content.

Porche Unleashed, Most Wanted. Hmm. Lets throw in some recognizable names for the fans, guys.

Wow! really looking forward to some more more mods. Armed racing sound fun.

And isn't this game tuning more and more into Burnout. This is not bad by any means. Just saying...

Well ya see, there's a video section, and a news section. If you post a news post about a video, it first has to be posted as a video on the website.

@lordofultima: That is what I figured. It is just funny seeing two things on the main page about the same exact thing, one of which contains everything the other piece of news features but more.

Perfect timing!  This game definitely needed some new online modes to mix it up.

Seven bucks each? Twenty one dollars for DLC seems very steep. I could get 2 great arcade games for that price, but I guess I'll throw reason out the window and go for the S-rank again. I hate me.

Is this related to the new achievements that popped up mysteriously last week, I mean I couldn't find a DLC with the Lambo Countach and one of the achievements is to take 3 pictures of it....

At least they chose the names for the better games in the series. ;)

Wow the Porsche 959? That is awesome, definitely the stand out vehicle in these packs.

@BradNicholson Why would you be worried about the 911 Turbo? The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is the most powerful. It's still a concept auto but yeah trumps the others in this pack in specs and matches some of the more powerful cars already in the game.

Shame when they released the game they pretty much said the PC version won't get any future DLC.

Real shame as its one of my favourite NFS games now.

I initially was going to say they were $7 all-together but I just read on GI it's $7 each. Wow EA. That's smart.-_-

you know what, I found one way to justify this pricing.  I only spent 40 dollars on the game anyway, (yay for sales over xmas) guess i should be happy. Still leaves a terrible taste in my mouth on how ea is milking DLC.

THAT'S what I'm talking about. I was severely disappointed in Hot Pursuit because of just how shallow it was (well, among other things like car handling). This open-world Hot Pursuit mode actually sounds interesting.

Porsche Unleashed is still the best game in NFS history. Though this one is good also.

Most Wanted mode sounds awesome, and I'll play any game with a Countach. When I was first getting into racing games, the Countach was my fave car in Need For Speed 3.

As an owner of the PC version, it's frustrating to see the version get shafted when it come to additional content. However, this is to be expected given how Burnout Paradise for PC didn't get the Cops and Robbers and Big Surf Island DLC. Oh well, the base game is still a lot of fun. It's a shame the online mode is blasted in to fifteen separate lobbies with no way to communicate to other players in-game, no way to change the event type or speed class in a lobby, and no way to tell how many people are playing online or are trying to fill out a lobby.

Hmm, on a side note this hit the market with little or no fanfare.
