Start Pre-Ordering Bastion for PC, Then Nab the Soundtrack

Supergiant Games is wasting no time in bringing Bastion to the PC, with the awfully rad action game leaving the confines of the Xbox 360 on August 16. You can already pre-order the game on Steam!

It will eventually appear on other digital platforms, but Bastion's coming to Steam first.

Just like Xbox Live Arcade, playing Bastion will cost you $14.99, and the Steam version also comes with Steamworks support for cloud saves, achievements and leaderboards. Oh, and it's DRM free!

If that's not enough, the game's wonderful soundtrack has gone online via Bandcamp. The digital version is available for $9.99, but starting in September, you can buy the album on a real-life disc!

Bastion and Portal 2 were my favorite games this year. Bastion was by FAR my favorite soundtrack.

God damn this soundtrack is good. Supergiant have really got their shit together. Greg and the team will definitely reap the rewards for this game.

Loved the game enough that I'll get it on Steam as well, and I bought the soundtrack the moment it was available.

I'm a little pissed that it wasn't even hinted that a PC release was potentially this close. Steam's much more my platform of choice and with the PC version launching this close they could have at least given us a heads-up that the wait was going to be weeks (instead of years like it was for LIMBO and Braid). Or did I miss something?

They said they were aiming for "fall." I think they didn't want to give a cemented date just in case it took longer than expected, but they DID say it was coming by the end of 2011.

Keep in mind that the "Summer of Arcade" promotion does come with an exclusivity deal of sorts. Part of it probably involved them not being able to say definitively when the PC version would be released for some amount of time. Gotta drive sales on the console end somehow, right?

Game looks pretty great.  I'm going to briefly entertain the idea of a just world where this game sells more copies than the latest Call of Duty.
