Seriously, I admit I'm a huge wuss when it comes to horror in video games (like a HUUUUGE one), but I never expected to be scared to continue on in an action-adventure game before. The Arkham games have always had horror elements, but I've only been playing for like three hours and I feel like I've seen at least five completely out-of-the-blue jump-scares so far. The most recent one being Man-Bat's introduction, which almost made me drop my controller.

Is this a thing I'm just gonna have to deal with regularly throughout the whole game?

Yes. I can recall about 3-4 big ones. There's a segment towards the end that's reminiscent of Amnesia.

Yeah there are a handful sprinkled throughout the story and I am also not a big fan of them. Don't worry though they're not that frequent.

I never thought of them as jump scares, but I can see how it would affect some people.. You will get used to it, I am sure.

The entire point of the game is fear... There are about 3 or 4 of them. That Man-Bat one scared the crap out of me. It was great!

Normally I'm the first person to jump at scares during movies or games but only the Man-Bat one got me in this game so far. Although the sound of an Amnesia-like segment towards the end doesn't exactly have me excited.

@holocaustwolf: Now that you know it's going to happen, you're probably going to be expecting it and you'll know what you're there. With that knowledge, it's not really that jarring.

The joker section is literally nothing like Amnesia. I mean, the random batman appearing is surprising and it may give you a quick jump but that's about it.

Still bummed I missed the Man-bat jump scare, much better introduction than just seeing him flap around at a distance,

I don't remember any to be honest though, nothing really got to me.

There's one specific to New Game+ that takes the cake for me.

@historyinrust: care to spoil it (with spoiler tags of course? I thought the game had no new content in NG+. I'm nearly done with the game but I too have a problem with jumpscares (played the last section with no sound).

I had a jump scare when i got to the manbat introduction but after that the game could pull no tricks on me anymore, that stuff only works on me when its totally unexpected but you only get to pull that card once. Also im totaly green to the Batman lore so i was thinking "wtf is that!?".
