    The final New Years Deal on Xbox Live is Battlefield 1943 for 560 points ($7). That seems like a hell of a deal, obviously, and it's only going to be around for the one day. However, I am not someone who is a big fan of multiplayer games, and has never felt compelled to spend more than a few minutes playing a first person shooter online. I have a great amount of respect for the Battlefield games, and really enjoyed the single player in BF: Bad Company, and since I'm a sucker for a good bargain, I'm thinking about picking up 1943.

    My question to my fellow Bombers is whether you think it's worth it at that price, if it's a good first online FPS, and is it still active?

    Yeh i got of PSN last week for half price. It is like any other battlefield can be a lot of fun but can also be frustrating. I don't know about xbox but the PS3 version had a 30min trail. I would recommend it.

    I thought that the demo was great, and I admit, 1,200 points is steep. But this is nearly three times less the price.

    I really want to buy this game too, but MS doesn't sell 800 points anywhere.

    I say go for it. Losing 560 points isn't as bad as 1,200 points.

    @Karmum: OP said he doesn't like muliplayer. If he thinks this game will somehow change his mind, there is a 30 minute demo.

    @ez123:
    Guess I missed that. Yeah, it's multiplayer only. Might not want to buy it.

    I'd try out the demo first.

    @ez123: Is that how the demo works? Unlimited access for 30 minutes? That sounds quite useful, actually. However, multiplayer shooters take a long time to get used to, by my understanding. It takes a while to learn how they handle, learn the etiquette and the strategies. Still, probably good idea to check out the demo, since I'm uncertain.

    @Atlas: Yeah, that's how the demo works. You should also check out if EA is still supporting that game.  Someone of gaf said that the games are getting laggier now and EA are not maintaining the servers.

    It is a great deal and I would pick it up. I wasn't a huge fan of online FPSs beforehand but got hooked because of this one; many others have said the same.

    I bought it today.... I think its nowhere near as good as any other battlefield game, and now I can't afford the SFIV deal on Steam :<

    I regret it, and I like multiplayer more than singleplayer games. So if you don't enjoy multiplayer games usually, then this isn't going to change your mind tbh. There are other, much better FPS multiplayer games out there.
