In the console sections of the official BF3 forums they are complaining about graphics and the player count on larger maps. It's too bad because it will still be im guessing one of the best console fps games, but I'm not playing that version so I don't know.

Complaining about the graphics compared to PC? If they are complaining in general -- what the fuck. They should complain about every game then, BF3 still looks pretty damn good on consoles to me.

What the fuck were they expecting seriously? It's like the person complaining how bad the textures were in their 360 version, and claiming it wasn't a "PC issue". Well, umm, yeah it is. PC was the lead platform. Be happy the game plays and works for you at all. And for what it's worth, I'm hearing that the PS3 version looks and plays much better. It's reportedly very similar to Killzone 3 which IMO looks fantastic. It's the 360 version that's performing like a dog.

The graphics are not that good. But it´s the Beta. Many of my issues right now are the same I had on the Bad Co. 2 Beta, and they were solved on the final release. But graphics are not the issue. Effects are. Particles and shadows in general are not up to todays standards. The draw distance they have is really small, and it creates a constant pop up of both shadows and some textures. Also while using an sniper, you won't see particles or textures, so that means that right now, they have not worked on the sights graphics options. So when using a 12x zoom, you see the objects, but with really low res textures (the ones used for long distance objects).

Most of this issues were on the Bad Company 2 beta, and they were addressed by the time it was released though.

360 is a 6 year old downgraded PC, now make it in dog years.

But anything that will force them to bring the next gen quickier is good news.

I tend not too care too much about graphics but the Xbox 360 version of the Beta seems to have major technical issues in regards to graphics. It plays great and Im enjoying it but I keep noticing massive issues that distract from the enjoyment.

The graphics aren't anything special, but they shouldn't be either, I expect a fun and working shooter.

The one thread I saw was saying "MW3 had the more realisticer graphics of all time!1!" and was an obvious troll. There is some weird clipping through the ground texture shenanigans going on in the Total Biscuit video, but that seems like an easy patch. I don't know why anybody wouldn't think this game looks good unless they mean they want a more characterized art style ala Battlefield Heroes.

My only complaint are the weird glitches like phasing through the ground or your screen randomly flashing green or white.

Everything else plays and feels fine.

I'm more concerned about the framerate issues I was experiencing yesterday. It was pretty bad.

As far as I know its not they are worse, though they of course are, but they are "broken" in spots which is the problem.

No shit the PC version is going to look better than the Xbox360/PS3 version. But the complaints of bad graphics on the console versions aren't against the PC version.

Really!? some people is retarded, no one is going to argue that the PC versions looks better, but I've been playing the fuck of the PS3 version and it is an impressive achievement for that hardware, Looks and plays pretty good.

I'm having a great time on the PS3 get into games within 15 seconds most of the time. Can't say my teammates realize the giant fucking siren blaring off means disarm teh bomb but meh. Only problem I've had was a game where it was real easy to fall below the world and you'f be stuck.

I guess I'm waiting till the game is released to decide which platform I'm getting it on. I got so used to playing BF on consoles that I'm not sure how I would fair on PC.

I've been playing the beta tonight on Xbox and don't think the graphics are very good either. Compared to the Killzone 3 beta they look downright terrible. I don't really have any gripes with the way the game plays so far, I just think it looks ugly. Uglier than BFBC2 did even, which I wasn't expecting.

I got bored after one match.

Nobody is comparing the console graphics to the PC version -- we're not idiots. Compared to the console version of Bad Company 2, however, the console version of BF3's graphics are only incrementally better. The lighting is nicer, for sure, but a lot of the texture work seems worse, which makes the game look flatter and less-detailed than it should. It's possible that the beta download didn't include all the final texture work -- perhaps to keep the file size down -- but that's only speculation.

I'm less bummed about the graphics than by the player count, though. I was hoping they'd up the player count at least a little -- 32 players, maybe? I already knew going in that it was still capped at 24, but it doesn't make it less depressing. I'd rather have graphics that are identical to BC2 if it meant I could have larger player counts. The game is still great -- aside from the expected bugs and glitches -- but if they really wanted to give console players a bigger, better experience than BC2, increasing the player count would have had a larger impact than making it look marginally prettier.

Amen. I game on PC and consoles, and have done so since I was a child, and I've never understood the superiority complex that some people have. Battlefield 3 may be a bigger, prettier game on the PC, but it's still fun on the consoles. If my gaming rig wasn't currently out of order and in need of replacement parts, I'd likely be playing the beta on both console and PC -- but even if it was up and running, I'm still getting the final game for console first, because it's what my friends will be playing on.

Why doesn't my machine with hardware that was considered commidity parts in 2005 and sold for $299 not perfoming as well as a modern computer that was built in the past year with a $750 video card? Duuuurp?
 
Wait until those people find out that the console version also doesn't have 64 players and the maps are much tinier. And that the console doesn't support DX9 or DX10 stuff.
 
I mean, I wanted lots of candy and the full BF3 experience. That's why I got it for the PC (but MW3 for the console).

I'm playing the PS3 version and I have no problem with the graphics, it's only a Beta and they were never going to be as good as the PC version anyway.

Ah yes, this reminds me of the days when I used to have such concerns, but such matters do not concern me any more; I own a magnificent steed of a PC and the ol' PS3, both for their respective virtues as gaming machines.

I suspect the target of your well-placed derision would be a crowd of simpler means (i.e. allowance from parents) and less maturity, and such matters do not concern us moneyed adult-folk.

I never said any of that. Console wars are stupid, and on these forums, they are general regarded as such. However, as seen in this thread, the PC elite mindset is still left largely unchecked. It's a silly thing to care about, yes, but it annoys me. I mean, I like PC games. I plan on playing Battlefield 3 on my PC. But this attitude that if you play anything but PC games, you're a child, is fucking stupid.

I enjoy the fact that my PC games are prettier than my Xbox games, but I still like my Xbox games just fine. And even as someone who learned to play FPSs on a keyboard and mouse, I'm still into Halo, because it's a game that's well designed to fit it's controls, and it's easy to play with friends. No, it's not as in depth as Battlefield, but it's still plenty fun, and it doesn't make someone who enjoys it a lesser gamer. Just like owning a Wii doesn't. So how about you cut your bullshit strawman and stop trying to justify idiocy with other examples of idiocy?
