Server Browser For Consoles Confirmed!
Commenting on the actual point of this thread, I think this is great news. As well as some games work with matchmaking, there are just as many that do not. Regardless of what I am playing Battlefield 3 on, this is an option that I am extremely glad to have. I don't feel like sitting, waiting 90 seconds for it to find a certain number of matches, 30 more seconds for it to dwindle that down, only to break and send me back to the main menu when I could just scroll through the list and find a suitable (and probably better) server for myself in about 15 seconds.
BF3 really seems to be doing just about everything right.
Well, server browser =/= dedicated servers, so don't get too excited about that yet, unless they've already confirmed it.

All BF games use dedicated servers. That's why you have to link your EA account with your gamertag. EA provides its own servers, all of which are dedicated.
Amazing news. What other games (Section 9?) have had server browsers on console? I can't think of any.
Glad to hear it since I'll have to be playing on 360. Hopefully that means a fully featured browser with dedicated servers and favorites. It's always nice to be able to repeatedly join the same server and recognize people without having having to friend/invite 20 people.
I definitely like this. I was always a fan of looking through the various rooms on Socom 2 back on PS2. I've never been a fan of regular matchmaking.

No one on consoles caresAgreed. I play console and don't even know what a server is. One of these days someone who plays on PC will have to show me how to use all this damn high tech stuff.
OT: Cool, glad to see this.
When I played Bad Company on console, I wanted the balls out of some server browser. Especially as time goes on and average server population drops, browser is really important for getting consistently full games.
Oh for people above, it was section 8 which had server browser and allowed people to use a PC to host dedicated servers, and GRAW 2 which did it years earlier, and one of the Battlefront games which did it before that, and Republic Commando which did it before that on the original xbox because Republic Commando is sick (obligatory plug).
This makes me very, very happy. I hate matchmaking and it's been very disheartening seeing every console game switch over to it.
Battlefiend Modern Combat had one. And it probably will be just like that.
