So here I was, about to beat the final boss and get the achievement for beating Bioshock on hard, something I thought I would never do. Hours and hours of frustration and agonizing encounters with Splicers and Big Daddies, constantly hitting enemies in the face with my wrench, were all poured into this very moment where I would kill Frank and get the achievement. I was anxious and very excited. The final boss fight was easier than every single part of the entire game, which is strange. I defeated him without a problem, watched the following cutscene, and was returned to the main menu where I waited for the achievement to pop up. It didn't. The mother effer didn't unlock. 
 
I think I know what happened. Towards the beginning of the game, I was looking through the options and accidentally changed the difficulty from hard to medium. I immediately corrected the mistake and continued on. That must have effed up the achievement. I even loaded up the last mission to see if I was playing on Hard, and I was. 
 
I need a hug. Somebody......

That totally sucks, dude. Sorry to hear that. Man, and did you guys really thinking the last boss was that easy? I found him to be pretty challenging. Though, after a couple minutes, I was hiding behind a fence somewhere and realized he couldn't hit me from there. So that made things very simple.

That's awful, I hate how sensitive some of the achievement criteria can be, my condolences for your lost time.

Man if I could only tell you how many times something like that has happened to me. Thats the worst. Bring it man *hug* :(

I've been there. I don't freak out about achievements often, but certain games can draw me into the chase. And when this sort of thing happens ... Bummer.

you were crazy for playing on knowing that it could have been a problem, you should have loaded your last save up you silly bugger!

That is rough. As someone who enjoys his achievements, you have my legitimate condolences. A similar thing happened to me when I did co-op with my friend on Gears 2, going for the Insanity achievement. He started it and invited me in rather than starting from the lobby so I never got the points.
