Which did you prefer?

It's very hard to choose, but I think I'm leaning towards KotOR, just because it is a much longer experience, almost double the length of Mass Effect. Mass Effect has by far the best combat, and obviously, graphics, and has a lot more customization. Though both stories were brilliant, and on par with each over. It's pretty hard choosing a favourite between these two.

I really hated the Mass Effect menus on the 360, they're a good bit more usable on the PC though

And that is coming from someone who hates Star Wars.

Kotor beats Mass Effect if they are both on the Xbox, but if they're both on the PC then Mass Effect wins.

I for one will say Mass Effect. Sure, KOTOR was great, but I love Mass Effect.

Im going with Mass effect, i cant stand the combat system in kotor, i like real time action, kotor dont give me none of that goooood stuff like ME does.

Kotor. It didn't have lame side quests, and the dialogue options were more fleshed out and meaningful. Mass Effect was still good, but your choices seemed very limited.

I'm going with Mass Effect. KotoR was great, and had a really cool plot twist and everything, but I feel Mass Effect is better overall. Mass Effect is one of the few games where I actually had to think about what choices I would make. You can do some pretty drastic things in that game, especially to your party members. Unfortunately, Mass Effect was shorter than I wanted and the side missions didn't really interest me that much. But the main story of the game and the gameplay are so good that it's still my favorite BioWare game. I can see them doing even better on Mass Effect 2.

I vote Mass Effect. The world was great in both, but I preferred the dialogue and combat in Mass Effect more than KOTOR. Also, the sidequests on both were sort of bad, so that doesn't help. I am a huge Star Wars fan, but I say Mass Effect for this one.

KOTOR.  I didn't like Mass Effect much.

I like Mass Effect better. It had hot alien poon.

Yeah i must say Mass Effect was a little better but both are great games. Played them both only on PC.

KOTOR was genius

Mass Effect, I *want* to play it but EVIL DRM and HORRENDOUS BUGS + AWFUL EA TECH SUPPORT kills the PC version.  Although a patch is coming.  Until I can remove the DRM I will not buy this game.

If KOTOR looked and played like Mass Effect (actual combat) it would be my dream game.

Both are great though (not far in ME)
