Overview
The protagonist of
Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War is a mercenary whose name, gender, and appearance are chosen by the player. As a mercenary during the Hundred Years' War, the character's ultimate goal is to gain renown by participating in battles, capturing bases, and completing other tasks that will gradually bring the player more fame.
As a mercenary, the protagonist's loyalty is not tied to either England or France, but to advance his or her own mercenary career. The character is thus freely able to take missions for one side or the other as the war rages on. In between missions, the protagonist spends time in a tavern that serves as a base of operations of sorts, where other such mercenaries meet up and the barkeep is able to provide a list of mercenary jobs for hire.
