so with Quakecon comes a Brink free weekend... so...yeah, there's that i guess. Might try it just for the art style. And even pick it up if it has a mad discount, but i doubt it. Its part of the complete ID/Bathesda quakcon pack tho, but still no price on that...we'll see
But for the next 3 days everyone on Steam has Brink at least :P
edit: the Brink sale is up now, only 50% off so F that

It was horrible horrible horrible on Xbox. Maybe the Steam version is significantly better.
Steam is where TF2 is though... Which is always free....

When does the Free Weekend start? I don't see it on my games list yet. I guess I'm just being impatient.
played the first lvl of the...campaign i guess you call it, i made it public but i doubt any of those dudes were actual...dudes, probably just bots. I had a surprising good time, even if all i was doing was healing ppl and getting them up (always play medic-types in team games), with the occasional shooting of dudes or helping at least. Guns felt good from what i saw, i still like the look of it... i dunno, i liked the half hour or so i played.
i just played a bit, had a lot of fun.. i think i was playing with real people but its hard to tell... haha.
At first, everything about this game seems amazing. The graphics are special, the storyline has potential, and the parkour is cool...
...but then when I actually start to play the game, I get the feeling like there's nothing much underneath that I haven't already seen before in other games. Also, aside from a few hacking objectives, the Operative class is pretty useless.

Exactly how I felt. The concept seemed awesome, but Brink's execution is a complete letdown.
Brink has absolutely the worst piss-poor AI I've ever seen in a game. Not only are the bots dumber than a sack of doorknobs, but you're forced to play with at least half of your team consisting of them because of the incredibly shitty net code. Also it has the saddest grenade explosions ever. It's like they didn't even try.
Don't waste your bandwidth. Go play something else instead.
I feel like most of you are not giving this game a chance.. Im probably not going to buy it..but its not near as bad as some of you want it to be.

I don't really think it deserves a chance.
gave it a try and played and hour and a half. the graphics and style are cool, but the gameplay feels bland. i dont know exactly what it is, but movement is really slow when you're not sprinting and sprinting is like normal speed. shooting didnt really feel satisfying either, maybe im just used to bad company or modern warfare and being able to kill people with less than half a clip. the class action aren't that great either, at least early on, the only thing different is context sensitive buffs and the ability to interact with environmental things for objectives. there also isnt any class limitations on primary and secondary weapons and specific abilities are watered down. the number of players also seems to cap out on 8 vs 8, which seems small for a class based shooter.
I played the campaign for 2 hours last night and enjoyed it well enough. The AI is terrible, but I'm just playing through for the story and unlocks.

It really is. There's a severe problem with a shooting game whose core game mechanics of movement and weapons based combat feel fucking awful and and untested. It feels like a tech demo.
