Taken from Kotaku. Though if you'd like to read a more in depth article, check the BBC.

In Wales, the 200th U.K. soldier to die in the Afghanistan conflict was memorialized this weekend. Pvt. Richard Hunt would have been 22 today, hundreds came to pay their respects.

The copy of the game, left on top of the Coffin.
The copy of the game, left on top of the Coffin.

His father Phillip, enjoyed playing Call of Duty: World at War with his son. He left a copy of the game at his grave (along with a wreath and many other memorials). It bore the note:

"Happy Birthday 'Hunty'. Play you again one day. Dad."

I must say I am very touched by this story, the last line of the note got me all choked up. I pay my respects to both Pvt. Hunt and his family, I have no idea how I could deal with such a terrible loss of life.

I'm going to make the asshole comment "why would you give him a shitty game for the afterlife" before anyone else does...but I won't mean it.

But what if there's no 360 where he's going?

It really sucks when I hear about people in my age group dying in this damn war or conflict or whatever they're calling it now.

Sorry to hear about Pvt. Hunt, condolences to his family. Kind of weird leaving junk at peoples grave sites though. I never got into that kind of sentimentality.

Always sad to hear of a  needless loss of  life

But a touching sentiment nonetheless, and at least a sign that this father had some cherished memories to remember his departed son by.

I don't think a soldier would consider his life needlessly lost even if you don't agree with the cause they're fighting for. But people can't leave politics out of it.

When reading the thread title I didn't know what to think but after reading the story and his father's message it's really powerful. Pvt. Hunt and his Dad must of had some great laughs playing the game and those were probably the last ones they had together. It's easy to relate to. I think that's why it's so strong.

Dude chill out.  I am sure that a lot more people would say something if it was a game like Jurassic the Hunted.  Besides, this guys tragedy is only interesting to us because it involves a game.  Had it not, your ass would not give a shit about this guy because you would see on the headline, father leaves a football or father leaves a condom or father leaves a skateboard.  You would be like, oh ok.  Or even if he didnt leave anything there, you would pass the story and not give it a second thought.  I doubt that guy would give a shit if something happened to me or you.  We only feel for those we care about.  So sorry but i see this topic as it is, we only care because of the gaming aspect.  So take it with a grain of salt that we are moved because we wish our dads could use to thumb sticks, unfortunately for me, my dad can barely put in a blu ray disc into the PS3, much less use a controller.

@TheHBK: You don't give a game that depicts soldiers being blown up and killed in Afghanistan when the person in the coffin was a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.
