So I recently decided to install World at War on PC since I have fond memories of playing it online. I soon couldn't help but stare in disbelief as I was kicked for things like moving while crouched, using a scope, running, etc. Apparently there are sets of the dumbest rules I've ever heard of for each server. Is this something that's common with every Call of Duty title for PC? I was about to install Black Ops 2 again since I didn't play the multiplayer but if it's the same as WaW then I'll keep on playing Team Fortress 2.

I refrained from buying any of the older Cods (or the new ones for that matter) because of tons of stories about these games being overrun by cheaters/hackers and mods that range from negligent to tyrannical dicks.

They all run punkbuster and that actually seems to keep out most hackers, it's just that the rules for each server are all so fucking stupid it makes it not fun at all. There was one where I was literally told to only shoot pistols if I'm inside and not in the open.

@shotgunlincoln: If my experiences of going back to COD4 at the end of last year are representative of old COD games, then I actually recommend playing on servers without punkbuster. The main reason is those servers are usually run on trust, and have good admins who can be called to kick any hackers. Sure you might have to play a round or two with a hacker occasionally, but the people who play will be generally honest and the admins are fair.
