The Carnifex is a living engine of destruction. Weighing about 10 tons, it takes the form of a vicious battering ram. The Carnifex is the Tyranid equivalent to a walking tank, coming in both ranged and assault forms. It can rip tanks apart and throw aside anyone stupid enough to get in its way. More advanced forms may have the ability to regenerate or armoured exoskeletons to make them far harder to destroy. Even more worrisome is the fact that these monstrosities aren't even close to the biggest Tyranids in existence, taking up more of a medium size when compared to the largest Tyranid creatures like the massive snake-like Trygons or Titan sized Hierodules and Hierophants.
