And by "this", I mean retail supply. How the hell does a game that is this anticipated, perhaps surprisingly so, get its shipment fucked up so bad? Several people who pre-ordered it from Amazon are getting their shipments delayed and a vast number of Canadian retailers also got shafted. Because of this, I wasted $6 taking the bus to the store and back as well as 2 hours of my life.
So I was sitting in front of an EB Games for 40 minutes, waiting excitedly for it to open, only to be disappointed when the clerk told another guy who was waiting for Catherine, sitting in front of the store for an hour, that he has no idea when they'll receive the game because the supplier fucked up. I went to a Best Buy and they didn't have it either. I went to a GameStop and encountered two people who also wanted to buy Catherine but were told by the clerk that they didn't get it because the publisher's unreliable and they apparently didn't even set a street date. So now Atlus is essentially saying "Sell it when you get it!" and people who pre-ordered the game, a couple of months ago, might not even get their damn copy. This shortage or problem or whatever is also apparently happening in Canada because they didn't manage to think about making enough bilingual documentation before the game was supposed to ship. How did this happen?
Did anyone else expect to get the game today, only to be Catherine-less?
Edit: I WANTED THIS FUCKING GAME SO BAD, WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN.
Catherine

How did this get screwed up so badly?

That's a bummer. Just got back from Gamestop with my copy.
Hope it gets all figured out soon for you.
Just got mine in the mail from Amazon about an hour ago. Sorry to hear you're having problems getting your copy :(
why not just order it from amazon
- Because I had pre-ordered the game in the store before it was even available on Amazon.
- Because I've never had any problem with day 1 purchases at the EB Games I go to.
- Amazon is also having a hell of a lot of trouble supplying people who ordered the game from there, like I said in the OP.
Its kind of odd that the gamestop I preordered at has had the game in stock for a few days already before release. Just picked it up, playing it now. Totally rubbing it in here =P...Now that's just mean!
Aw that sucks, man. Kinda weird that a big game like this has to go through with these kinds of screw-ups.
Too bad I still gotta wait for the European release, hearing some of you duders already getting your hands on this game ain't making it better either. I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME TOO!!!
I preordered the special edition and now I'm hearing they didn't get many because the special edition was taken off the reserve list at gamestop before the demo was even released. Now I am kinda afraid to open my copy. D:
No dickish ''get over it, go do something productive while you wait instead of complaining'' post thus far... I'm impressed! Anywhoo get over it, and go do something productive while you wait instead of complaining.

I know you think this game is important and everybody wants it.
I feel bad because I probably won't even get around to opening my copy for a good long time, and I have it.
According to Amazon's website, mine's at home by the rear door. Just another five hours of work and then I totally get to play it. Shitty that it's running into such issues, though. Definitely agree that Atlus probably didn't realize just how popular they are, at least with the Giant Bomb community, haha.

But retailers don't get shipments the morning of release, they gotta be inventoried, takes a little time.
Either way it's a bummer, but plan ahead yo. Canadian EB Games and Gamestops always get like 1 copy of those kinds of games. Lord knows I was waiting for two weeks for my Tales of Symphonia pre-order to make it in. That was the last time I dealt with them.
Try ordering it online?
Oh... I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. But retailers don't get shipments the morning of release, they gotta be inventoried, takes a little time.
At this point, I'm not sure ordering online would do much good, though. Amazon, particularly the Candian branch, has delayed several orders and I ordered the Deluxe Edition, which seems to be especially unavailable. Reluctantly, I think I'll just have to wait it out.
@FluxWaveZ: No sexy pillowcase for you!
Amazon canada is pretty unreliable. Kinda depends what city you live in but it's possible some of the last remaining mom n' pop game shops carry this sort of thing. In Toronto we got the Game Centre, who would totally stock it if they could get some copies in for themselves. Might be that the government is restricting shipments on that game because of the lack of bilingual documentation, which I'm pretty sure is law.
Try being BritishI know, it sucks for Europeans that have to wait even longer to be able to play the game, but it's a relatively different situation. This is more of a case of something that should have happened, but didn't. Europe's is a case of something that's going to happen, but later on.

D'AWWWWWWWWWWWW I JUS JOSHIN' Sucks to have a preordered game not arrive/be available on the day... suffered such an annoyance many a times. Plus that extra bus fare is exactly why I always order online; games are expensive enough as it is, let alone with an extra £4-5 tagged on.
My Gamestop had 6 preorders on PS3 but only got 3 games in.
But I'm sure everyone will bitch at Gamestop about it.
@Matoya said:To be honest, I doubt it's ever gonna be released here in a serious manner. It'll be the same as Tales of Vesperia likely. To my knowledge, it's both.woow that sucks, I just hope that my copys come even if it only says preparing order. Is it 360 or ps3 that is hard to get? because I pre orderd ps3.
I wonder... has every single big retailer in Canada not received Catherine? If so, this can't be good for their sales...
I preordered mine off Amazon and they shipped it last night. It's a few miles away from me right now. I guess I got lucky. It sucks that this seems to be a widespread issue.
