Extraterrestrials appear in many video games in a variety of styles. Sometimes they're evil, sometimes they're benevolent, and sometimes they're very similar to humans.
One of the founding Space Marine chapters that turned to Chaos, the Alpha Legion currently serve as one of the more prominent legions of Chaos Space Marines, aligned with Chaos Undivided.
Anarchism is the rejection of all government authority.
The physical and mental turmoil that a person may encounter as a result of a traumatic or otherwise extremely stressful situation.
Usually refers to the end of the world.
The End of Days. A concept often used in video games. In most games: the protagonists are working to prevent it, although sometimes the goal is to actually bring about Armageddon yourself.
Neglectful and/or abusive parents and parental figures.
A rogue character who doesn't obey the law, bandits are known to steal from people for their own selfish gain.
Barbarians in games are often known for their brute strength, large size compared to normal humans, appetite for meat and ale, general crudeness, and prowess in melee combat.
A term for a humanoid creature with animalistic features which can comprehend everything from slightly feral humans to savage monsters with trace amounts of anthropomorphism.
Betrayal is when a person breaks the trust and faith that others have placed in them.
A common character class / archetype in role-playing games and fantasy. They are often less chivalric than your average Knight-errant, generally being depicted as either archetypal villains (such as a Dark Lord), or troubled and ruthless anti-heroes.
One of the nine traitor legions which betrayed the Emperor and embraced Chaos. Once led by Horus Lupercal, leader of the titular Horus Heresy, they are generally recognized as being the "main" Chaos Space Marine legion.
In many RPGs, especially those made in Japan, magic is categorized as black or white. Black magic spells deal damage or inflict negative effects.
Necessary to sustain life in organic creatures, the crimson fluid known as blood tends to make appearances when the body's structure is compromised in some way, a very, very common occurrence in videogames.
The rank-and-file Daemons of Khorne, each one a vicious and merciless warrior.
The greatest of Khorne's Daemons, each one a near-unrivalled master of melee combat possessed of endless ferocity.
Cannibalism occurs when a creature eats the flesh of a member of its own species. Cannibalism is frowned upon in organized societies, and has made several appearances in video games as listed below.
Dragons in service to Chaos. They are usually two-headed and fight alongside the armies of Norsca.
The Chaos Dwarfs, known in their own tongue as the Dawi-Zharr (literally "Fire-Dwarfs" in Khazalid), are an industrious, malevolent counterpart to the Dawi. Turning their backs on the ancestor gods, they pledged themselves to the minor Chaos God Hashut.
Imperial Knights that have aligned themselves with Chaos, fighting against the Imperium they once served.
The Imperium's great enemy, the Chaos Space Marines, are the Adeptus Astartes that turned their back on the Emperor in exchange for the powers of Chaos.
A person serving time in prison or an escaped criminal on the run from the law.
The act of a noble, just, or otherwise good or heroic figure becoming evil through either external manipulation or an internal shift in beliefs or desires.
The head of a group of devout people who follow their crazy beliefs. Can often be dangerous.
Cults don't necessarily have to be evil or out to destroy the world, but in video games it's usually safe to assume so.
Daemons are Warp entities and servants of the Chaos Gods.
The Dark Eldar are a Kindred of the Eldar, an ancient and advanced race of elf-like humanoids. They were introduced to the Dawn of War franchise with the most recent release (besides the pending Dawn of War 2) with Dawn of War: Soulstorm
Elves who have often been corrupted in some manner, changing their skin tone and leaving them with a predisposition towards evil. Sometimes called "Drow".
Darkness is used in games to restrict access, increase tension, or just to set a mood. Often the player has access to a light source that can mitigate its effect.
