Because we are coming up on another system launch I have ben listening to content from e3 2013.
After starting up the podcast that was made out of the first nights show I head the distcitive voice of Dan. "That's trippy, Dan and Ryan on GB", I thought? "Giant Bombcast E3 2013 Day One"
What a treat to hear Ryan. Dan, and Justin McElroy on one show. Also, everyone hot take on Xbox One is interesting seven years later. Also, Dan was being journalist Dan much of that night; some fo the most thoughtful comments about the systems comes out fo Dan's mouth.

Dan Ryckert was on the Giant Bomb e3 2013 show, a year before joining GB
@monkeyking1969: Thoughtful? I don’t believe it.
i presume you heard the one about dan and and a bridge in 2011, right?
@mellotronrules: Loved it. Keep going back to those shows and soaking in the complete madness going on.
During e3 there was a lot of talk about downloading games, the internet, and what they meant for retailers. Turns out retailer lasted the full seven years, but what might take them down is a virus. A lot of the discussion was trying to deal with if you would trade "downloadable games".
Trying to figure out that issue, was more trouble than it would have been worth. The complexity of Microsoft's fuzzy system for "tracking games" and "ownership" was going to just be a pain in the ass. I think our current system is at least simple - if you don't like a game, you can return the game within # days. So no trade back-end needed; you can return a games as long as they don't abuse the system. The system we have isn't flexible, but it is simple from a point-of-sale standpoint.
I want to say this is when Ryan started recruiting him to the site?
I doubt Ryan was recruiting Dan for a position that wasn't available yet.
Man, I remember watching this when I had no concept of who Dan was. And seeing it now it now it almost feels like I am watching an alternate reality where Ryan is still around and Dan is still at GB and it’s freaking me out a little bit. While also feeling like it took place an entire lifetime ago. Also can’t really process for how many years I have actually followed some of these guys covering the industry. On the topic of console launches, I should do the same. Curious if I remember the takes last time to how it all panned out.
Dan Ryckert was also on the 2011 and 2012 Giant Bomb E3 shows. In 2011, he talks about his bridge dating prank and in 2012 he talked about getting a Pikmin demo from a Nintendo rep who seemed surprised about what was in his own game that he was demoing.
Oh, I will have to look those up! Seeing prehistoric Dan
With this year's e3 so changed, I am enjoys these retrospective shows.
