    Overview

Dark Escape 4D (known in Japan as Dark Escape 3D) is a horror-themed fixed-gun shooter developed and released by Namco Bandai for arcades (running PC-based Namco System ES1 hardware) in 2012.

Similar to Sega's House of the Dead series, Dark Escape pits players against numerous horrifying monsters (including zombies and mutants). The game makes use of special fixed-gun controllers with built-in heart-rate monitors, tracking and displaying each player's heart rate as they play. Players can also choose whether to play the game normally or with 3D glasses.

The game plays very similarly to the studio's earlier Deadstorm Pirates, including the same "combined shot" and "continue bonus" mechanics, the stage selection process, and the "Treasure Hunt" chance mechanic (now called "A Terrifying Decision"). It also uses a similar "closed booth style" deluxe cabinet (with a large 46" LCD monitor, surround sound, and rumble seats).
