This is just an utter disaster; I transferred my Dark Souls save onto an USB Flash Drive and then put that Flash Drive in my computer, since I wanted to see if it was possible to download Dark Souls saves and characters online, just for the fun of it. I then found a save, put it in the Flash Drive and then back into my Xbox 360.
I then did all the configuration of the device and it said okay, but when I opened the contents of the Flash Drive, it doesn't detect any of my saves at all.
Horrified, I tried to take out and insert the device again, but my Xbox says that the Flash Drive includes 0 kb -- meaning none.
Any ideas what to do?
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
I seriously need help!
hmm, all the configuration again? Don't suppose part of that involved formatting it again? Would explain the 0kb on it. From what I vaguely recall with toying around with 360 saves in the past they store them on the usb in a set somewhat compressed way, so you need a program to actually access and modify them. Manually putting a file found online in, without all the proper steps of putting it within that may have made the 360 figure it is wrong/not 360 complient so gone ahead and formatted it for you again ready for use. Which would mean that everything that was on that usb drive is gone i'm afraid :(.
It has been a long time since I looked into it, someone might have better info than me.
Xbox 360 save files are stored in a "CON" file without any extensions, each CON file is digitally signed to your Gamertag, if the signatures don't match the xbox simply does not display them and pretends like nothing is there. If you toyed with your save file or your pc changed them in anyway you need to resign them to your Gamertag.
There are numerous pieces of software for doing this but it involves copying your gamertag onto the usb, using a special piece of software to access the part of the usb it is stored to, copying it off that partition, opening your Gamertag, finding your signature, copying it into your save files using the CON Resigner (hint!) and inject your saves back into the partition of your USB the xbox reads.
But there was no .con when I moved the save over the USB drive and then opened the folder on my pc..Xbox 360 save files are stored in a "CON" file without any extensions, each CON file is digitally signed to your Gamertag, if the signatures don't match the xbox simply does not display them and pretends like nothing is there. @MikkaQ said:Yeah well I'm always forced to use formatting.Sounds like you must have reformatted the stick to get the file on from your computer.
Then the data on the stick is lost. The xbox sticks are specially formatted, PCs can't read them without specific software, it probably just erased everything and made it FAT32 when you tried to move the file over.
Could you please elaborate? :)@Popskinz said:
