Granted I have not finished the game in earnest but I've been thinking about what exactly IS the main character of this game in terms of class and origins? I look at the uncaring and callus attitude towards everything, the opening area with the strange life chamber full of trinkets on chains, the dead body doubles, and the way the essence always seeps into a new form after time passes. It all points to a Lich with a phylactery installed somewhere in the castle, though maybe not the traditional spellcaster style of Lich but one born from more of a spell sword class. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of resolution to his origins in the late game and I certainly have my own standing theories. I just wanted to see the overall impression people have of this particular character design because I'm digging it in a weird way. No matter how you slice it it's a nerdy topic.

It's an angry millenial goop with an attitude problem!

I figure it's like Annalise from Bloodborne: an immortal creature that can't truly die, but upon taking enough damage can't really pull itself back together. So some time before the game starts, it received a catastrophic injury, but its "nucleus" is still intact, so it can still exist and regenerate to an extent.

It's a take-no-prisoners glorp with nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain!
