This is a good sign but after the later RE movies i'm wary of anything that has to do with capcom, zombies and movies. that they're going for someone who looks the part and has comedy chops is encouraging. The icing on the cake is he has covered wars... you know. http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/20/7022501/rob-riggle-is-frank-west-in-dead-rising-film
Dead Rising
Dead Rising is an action-adventure, survivor horror video game series, developed by Capcom. It takes much of it's inspirations from the George Romero zombie films, while managing to stay original.
Rob Riggle is Frank "i've covered wars you know" West!
Rob Riggle is hilarious so it makes me think they get the tone of Dead Rising so color me cautiously optimistic.
Haven't seen much of this dude over here in the UK so I'll just take everyone else on their optimism about him. He certainly looks the part.
Search for some of his Daily Show bits, see 21 Jump Street, go to the Adult Swim website to find episodes of NTSF:SD:SUV featuring his character of President of the Navy, and his many bits on Funny or Die.
I had no idea a Dead Rising movie was even planned, but damn if he isn't the perfect choice for Frank West. Rob Riggle is the shit.
Riggle will play photojournalist and oddball-weapon-creation-enthusiast Frank West, who was the main character in Capcom's original Dead Rising film. The movie — which will not play in theaters and instead debut on Sony's Crackle service — is written by Tim Carter
What? What?! Is this gonna have the budget of a Machinima movie?
Glad I'm not the only person who was more surprised about the movie being a thing than the casting.
Weird. About the movie, I mean. Or the casting also, I guess. Or either one really.
Oh jesus, everything I've read about this movie sounds horrible:
The Synopsys:
Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story's narrative.
This movie is also written by Tim Carter, the writer for Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
Rob Riggle is the whipped cream and cherry of what may be a complete shit sundae.
Perfect casting, but odds are that's about all this movie will get right. Oh well good for Riggle getting a paycheck seems like a nice enough guy.
I'm glad they got a middle aged guy to play him who's apparently done some good work. Obviously the odds are against this movie being good with it being a straight to dvd (or "crackle" which I suppose is the new equivalent) movie. But i'm hopefull it'll at least be a mildy entertaining dumb zombie movie.
Speaking of which I just watched Dead Snow 2 and that was suprisingly good. Recommened for anyone who likes films like Braindead etc.
1. My god, that's perfect.
2. My god, that synopsis sounds the opposite of perfect. Synopsiseseses don't necessarily mean anything, but it sounds kind of like they're making an actual, serious zombie movie. I'm sure that's not the case, seeing as how they cast Rob Riggle, but I'll be hugely disappointed if they can't at least approximate the bizarre tone of the games.
First trailer, shows some Frank West. It has the song "Memory" from Cowboy Bebop in it for some reason at the beginning. The embed below doesn't have that part, but it's in the link. I dunno what's up with that.
Looks kinda lame until Frank West shows up and they start showing off silly melee weapons.
