Disney Epic Mickey
Game » consists of 2 releases. Released Nov 30, 2010
Oswald the Rabbit and Mickey Mouse battle it out in Warren Spector's re-imagining of Walt Disney's universe in Epic Mickey.
Kill The Mouse!1!
I hope my intelligent peers here in GB will see this game for the horrible monstrosity it is. An infection!
Everywhere Disney goes, they leave an intellectual wasteland behind them. Their movies are bad, their television is bad and their sports endeavors are soulless (the Anaheim Mighty Ducks didn't win the Stanley Cup until after they were sold and changed their name, and Disney held onto the Angels just long enough to sell them for maximum value after 2002). But above all else, their music (think Britney Spears and Hannah Montana) has almost by itself been responsible for the decline of Western Civilization. They might start out by sneaking in with established industry names (Warren Spector) and famous production studios (Pixar), but given enough time you will all be made to play Guitar Hero: Jonas Brothers World Tour. Left to its own devices, The Mouse will grow like zerg creep until every aspect of American entertainment culture is covered in its slimy barf. I don't want any Disney in my video games dammit.
While it was probably inevitable that they would move into the last bastion of unconsumed youth entertainment with their juggernaut of artistic absence, it does not mean they can't be stopped! Don't buy this game! Oppose it everywhere you see it!
Wow. That's one the most transparent trolling attempts I've ever seen. The sad part is, people will answer to this crap.
" Lion King was cool : ) "Replace cool with stolen.
I guess this guy was not alive when the Super Nintendo or NES were around, because there were plenty of awesome Disney games for the NES and SNES back then. So they've had over 20 years, they haven't destroyed the industry yet.
Also, I don't give a fuck about what you say about Disney, they're responsible for some great properties. You'll never take Kill Bill away from me, and yes, that's a Disney movie.
" @Bucketdeth said:I don't really care if they got the idea from Kimba. I've never seen Kimba. I've seen the Lion King, and it's pretty fucking good. The only thing that bothers me is if Disney is lying about it. If the idea was basically ripped off of Kimba, then they should just come out and say it. Denial probably makes them look worse at this point." Lion King was cool : ) "Replace cool with stolen. "

I remember Disney's installments on NES, Genesis and SNES. They were almost all subpar platformers.
While I admit they have not destroyed they industry, they have stunted its growth. In the early years they contributed to keeping consoles in a perpetual "toy" classification and hindering their evolution into multimedia entertainment devices. So long as consoles were products marketed exclusively for children, the development of a mature video game culture was retarded. This was reinforced by Disney's release of a cookie-cutter platformer to coincide with every major theater release no matter how stupid.

but they haven't, and Eisner isn't in charge anymore. So as far as I'm concerned, Disney's been pretty fucking awesome lately.

" @Suicrat:Aladdin, Ducktales 1 & 2, and Mickey Mania were awesome games.

In the early years, Disney understood the demographics console makers were targeting, and produced games for those demographics. They're not going to "contribute" to the medium of video games by making a video game the market didn't want. That doesn't make them evil, that makes them a profit-oriented company. Sure, they put out their share of shitty games, and there are countless further examples of it, but that doesn't mean we should throw the baby out with the bathwater when they try to make a good game. (Whether Epic Mickey is or not, we'll have to wait and see.)
Are Nintendo evil for making shitloads of Mario games that their target market feels comfortable purchasing for their children? No, they're a profit-oriented company, who aren't going to make a product unless there is sufficient demand for it, this method is not evil, it's sane. You need to get off your high horse and stop assuming that just because a company is large and has grown large by making products that parents can enjoy with their children that they're evil. It's not up to Disney to make a game for you, it's up to Disney to make a game for their audience. And that's what they do.
Honestly, what would you be saying right now if "Disney's Epic Mickey" were a violent gorefest involving garrot-wire, gasoline, broken glass, and broken spines? You'd be out here saying the exact same bullshit.
Also, I notice you didn't even touch my comment about the quality intellectual property Disney's film arm has produced.
"sorry for trollin, thnx for playing "if you were you should have waited 5 pages in to say that :P

While most recent disney creations are terrible compared their older stuff, they are giving the target audience what they want. You can't argue with the popularity of stuff like high school musical & Hannah Montana with younger audiences. Do I like them? No. Am I supposed to like them? No. What I think of them doesn't matter. It's not aimed at me. It's for kids. As long as the kids are happy with them, and they aren't polluting kids with bad ideologies, I have no real issues with them.
