Doctor of Science Holding degrees from several Homeworld universities, Dr. Qui Meon was responsible for the initial plans for Project: Velyria. He rarely leaves the Laboratory, devoting most of his time to the development of ICPD and the deployment of his new task-force of scientist warriors.

Abbreviated Personal History

Prior to Qui Meon's birth in 5543, his biological parents, Hal Kao and Klara Jesnes, were found guilty of crimes against the government including conspiracy to treason and terrorism, and sentenced to life in prison. After an early delivery, Qui briefly became a ward of the state before his adoption on 121.5543. Meon was raised by his adoptive mothers, Sen Meon and Visya Talbos, in the first tier sector of the Grand Capital.

Following his acceptance into the advanced education program at Secondary School S1:D23, Qui rapidly exceeded the high expectations laid down by his adoptive parent's scientific successes. After setting a new city-wide record in his 5554 Cognitive Function tests, Qui was granted early admittance into the University of the Grand Capital. There, he elected to study physics and astronomy. His 5560 paper on artificial atmospheric water cycling and its effects on grey-planet terraforming was hailed as a cornerstone piece in the field of planetary engineering. With such great successes during his Prime degree, it was not surprising that his decision to begin work at the Suan-Menn Research Laboratory after graduation caused an uproar among many of the University professors.

While working as a research technician, Qui Meon met Soni Pyeong, a 5559 graduate from the igneous petrology program in Naminth. They signed their partnership papers three lunar periods after Qui arrived in Suan-Menn. Qui credits much of his later work to ideas Soni put forth during their "many late-night conversations." Unfortunately, an undiagnosed heart defect led to Soni's death only three years later. Qui retreated from academia for a time, returning to the Grand Capital to live with his mothers. It was during this reprieve that Qui began to study the anomalous flares in the solar cycle in earnest. This research would eventually form the basis for his study on the acceleration of the sun's death.

Returning to the University of the Grand Capital in 5568, Qui Meon earned his Doctoral degree in terraforming theories and techniques. He also completed a second Doctoral degree in anticipatory astronomy during which he assembled and published his definitive work, Creation And Destruction: Our Sun's Dying Wish, alongside noted astrophysicist Dr. Seela Tins. He became one of the first chairs for Project: Velyria in 5576.
