Dragon Age: Origins is an epic fantasy role-playing game featuring a rich story, personality-driven characters, and tactical, bloody combat. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series.
So when you run into a group of baddies and there's an elite dude (someone with a yellow name) do you take him out first and try to crowd-control the others? This is what I've been doing unless I'm fighting a boss or some sort of mini-boss.
I'm just wondering because I end up doing most fights twice.
I pretty much agree with what everyone else is saying but it would be even more helpful to use some CC like rock fist or horror on the elite while you take on the whites because elites and higher will punish you if you ignore them.
@SuperBuster: Depends, I'm pretty heavily invested in ice on my main, so I use cone of cold or blizzard to hold large groups of enemies. Once frozen crits one shot the smaller mobs so I use my cc to knock out a few mobs at once with the various auto crit skills i have (and a little luck sometimes).
Depends on the situation, mostly on the type of enemies I'm fighting. Sometimes I'll have my warrior tank on the elite with my damage dealing caster helping while my rogue works on the weenies that get close to my healer. But if theres a blood mage about, I always make sure to disable him first with one of my mages. Those fuckers will destroy you.
@Galbrezu: Well like you said it depends on the situation. I also like to use cone of cold and rock fist/auto crits but sometimes the enemies simply don't line themselves up properly for that to work. Whatever the case, I believe it is a mistake to leave an elite or higher unattended while you deal with the weaker enemies.
