    Overview

Escape Rosecliff Island is a hidden object game developed by SpinTop Games and published by PopCap Games (Focus Multimedia in Europe) for PC, Mac, iPhone, and iPad platforms.

    Story

The player has crashed landed on Rosecliff Island. The player must then search scenes and solve puzzles to find all of the items required to repair the boat and escape the island.

    Gameplay

Escape Rosecliff Island is made up mainly of hidden object scenes with other puzzle types given at the end of each stage.

There are 25 total scenes in the game and 25 stages. Each stage is made up of differing amounts of the various scenes in the game. Once each scene in a stage has been completed there will be a puzzle to complete in order to find a boat part.

When starting the game the player has the choice to play the game in relaxed mode which will strip out the timer letting players take as long as needed to finish each scene and puzzle.

    Hints

Using a hint to find this item

Hints can be used during a hidden object scene to get help finding one of the remaining items. When starting the game players can choose to have unlimited hints which will allow the use of as many hints as desired.

Each hint will deduct 7,500 points from the players total. Once a hint is used in regular play the player must wait for the hints to re-charge, however if playing with unlimited hints there is no time restriction. If a scene is completed without the use of hints a bonus of 25,000 points will be given.

    Scenes

In total there are 25 different scenes in the game, however different items will be required for the player to find each time the scene is played. The first time a scene is played the player will be required to find an item that must be combined with another item using a clue. Some items that must be found will also be spelled out rather than a physical item. The scenes in the game are:

    • Memory - Players click on tiles that are all laid out face down. Two of the tiles can be selected at a time and if they are a match (either identical or similar depending on the stages instructions) and they are then cleared from the board. The player is successful when the entire board is cleared.

    • Word Search - Word search puzzles are a grid of different letters of the alphabet. Players must try and find a certain list of words in the grid and highlight them by clicking on the first letter and dragging across the word, ending with the last letter. • Match 3 - In the match 3 puzzle there are tiles in a grid with images on them. Players must try and swap 2 tiles (with them being adjacent either up, down, left, or right) and try to get 3 or more of the same image in a row. When a set of tiles is cleared the square below them is lit up in a different color. The goal of the puzzles are to light up every square.
    • Rotating Puzzle - In the rotating puzzle there will be a grid of 5 x 5 hexagonal pieces. These pieces must be rotated in order to make the image on them match up. One an entire row or column is correctly rotated they will lock into place and become darker to let the player know they are complete. In order to finish the puzzle all of the pieces must be correctly rotated.
    • Jigsaw Puzzle - In the jigsaw puzzles players must take all of the puzzle pieces and correctly place them on the image. All of the pieces start out on the left hand side of the screen. Some of them will need to be rotated in order to fit in their spot while others do not. Once a puzzle piece has been placed in the correct location it will lock into place.

Each different scene has two locks hidden in them. These locks can be physical key locks or can be the word lock. Once the locks have been found in a scene they will not show up again when playing that scene again. When 25 of the locks are found the player unlocks the ability to play the match 3 puzzle game at any time. When all 50 of the locks are found the player then has the ability to go into any hidden object scene and try to find every item at once.
